I'll bet a USA dollar (not worth much) that MK is a surprise guest there.   If he is, and iff someone records the concert and shares it, it's worth at least 5 bootlegs for free from me!
I have a few things you might not find elsewhere.    :D

I'll be at the concert in Munich, Philharmonie on 17.09.
Marie, for recording I'm lacking the necessary equipment ... but if you are right, I'll do my best to take a pic from EH, MK and me.  :D

I think MK will be there, and probably GF too. If MK gets on stage and performs - literally "beyond my wildest dreams"! ::)

Ohhh if that could happen that Mark and Guy would be the special guest that would be wonderful,  :P  BUT.........I mailed Guy a while ago and he told they didn't have plans to be at her concert! :'(

I bought today the new CD of Emmylou and it is beautiful! I am looking forward to be there and please Joko keep me informed too after you have been there. ;)

Saw Emmylou last night Fieneke. Please pardon the generality of this post. I went to see her only because of her link to Mark, and I have no great knowledge of her career and music, so couldn't give you set lists or critiques of specific songs, etc.

Anyhow, the support act was Kimmie Rhodes. Don't spend time in the bar during her set! Make sure you catch her. V good and very Emmy-like music. The two have obviously known each other for many years. See below.

Emmylou played for 2 hours, old stuff and new. Voice is exactly as it sound in her recordings - perfect in every way. Not many people sound as good live as on their recordings, but she does.  Her band were excellent. She played Love and Happiness from ATRR - but no appearance from MK for this unfortunately!! Kimmie Rhodes, who co-wrote this with Emmylou, came back on stage and sang Mark's part on this. The highlight for me was when Emmylou and two of her band got close together centre stage under a single spotlight and sang a very complicated and haunting melody accompanied only by Emmy's acoustic guitar. Don't know what it was called but won't forget it! You'll know what I mean when you hear it.

Enjoy the night and let me know how it was for you! :)

Boo, shame there was no guest appearance.

You can hear a nice interview with Emmylou on this site for the next few days, starts at about 1 hr 12 mins:

Thank you Draad for your review! It is good to hear you had a great time at the concert and that her voice was as beautiful as it is on a CD! ;D

Dusty and Joko thank you for the links! I don't have time today but sure will try to read it tomorrow!
Joko I wish you a great time Wednesday and hope you will tell about the concert too!

After discovering Mark in  2006, I heard about Emmy again after a long time. It is too much to explain here, but I am busy writing a Emmylou Harris story at my own site (I wish I had more time, but I hope to finish it this week). I loved to listen to her voice at the ATRR CD and loved to watch the DVD too. So when I read in the newspaper she would be in my country and even so nearby in Groningen, I wanted to be there. ;D

To be prepared a little bit, I bought her new CD "All I Intended To Be" and ..........let me tell you, it is a GREAT CD! I really LOVE to listen to it and hope she will sing some of those songs. I have the feeling the song you are talking about is "Beyond The Great Divide". It is a song at the new album too and it sounds wonderful with the men that sing together with her.

After listening the new CD and knowing the "Elite Hotel" and "ATRR" albums, I sure am looking forward very much to be at the concert! :P

Btw what is the camera policy? Are people allowed to take pictures at her concert, does one of you know? ::)

Just a little thing about Emmylou

I noticed in the Dublin concert that she sticked the set-lsit in his guitar (with MK tour) and I See in this pics that she is doing it in his own solo shows!!!!

Though probably one of the older forum members, I'm probably also the youngest in terms of length of time I've been a fan ( :(). So I'm only hearing and seeing stuff now that you guys are all familiar with. Last night I saw for the first time the DVD Real Live Roadrunning. Wow! Emmy was able to make Mark's songs even better. Speedway better?? - yep she managed to make it so. Talking of Speedway, I loved watching Danny in the outro. There's one bit where he purses his lips, blows them out, and his face says "I'm into this big-time". He then mouths something, which was probably "yeah!", but it might have been something more rude! Brilliant!! He must be as fit as a butcher's dog that man. And all the time Mark is grooving away on the guitar like it's easy, and watching all the other band members play their parts, and a big smile for Emmy at the end. Must go downstairs and watch it again! :)

ROFL Draad, I was for a long time the baby of this family, but it seems I got a little brother
now! ;D I know the feeling discovering everything and to be honest, I still discover new things about Mark!

With the CD there is also a little lyrics book and I was reading it today. You know what?

Glen, OUR nice and sweet Glen Worf is playing bass at some songs too!! Yeaaahhhhhh!  ;D He is playing at these songs:
- Hold On; Broken Man's Lament; Gold (great song with Dolly Parton too)

Glen as well as Richard Bennett nice and sweet also as we know, are playing at these songs also:
-  All That You Have Is Your Soul (beautiful one!); Take That Ride;

It is great to see these artists back at the album of Emmy, I really recommend to listen to this one!  ;D

And then this special song "Beyond The Great Divide". I wish Mark would sing it with Emmy, it is soooo beautiful as almost all her songs are! :P

Thank you for telling Joko! I'll try to be on time. I perhaps even take off work Friday!

I am busy with a Emmylou Harris story at my forum at Audiocandy.com and posted there also old video's! Tomorrow I hope to finish her story when I add her 2006 Tour with Mark and add news about her new CD and Tour. ;)

Pottel I have download the concert of Manchester from Dime and burned it on a CD! THANK YOU again for mentioning. It didn't come up in my mind to search at Dime, so I would have missed it! :-*

Draad and JOKO, you both were right! The concert yesterday was fantastic! We were lucky to sit left in the 3rd row and could see Emmylou Harris and other band members very well! She sings as good as she does on a CD and she sang MANY songs! There were about 24 songs just like in Manchester, although she sang yesterday some different songs then she did there.

There were some songs I never heard before, but I also recognized a few beautiful songs.
My favourites yesterday were:
- Red Dirt Girl
- Kern River
- Hold On
- Shores Of White Sand
- Not Enough
- Michelangelo

She also sang songs of her CD/DVD All The Roadrunning /Real Live Roadrunning:

Hi Fieneke,

The two band members you are talking about are Phil Madeira and Rickie Simpkins.

Went to see Emmy in Amsterdam yesterday night (closing night of the tour), great performance although the band only really started the engines at Born to run, superb version!
Emmy's voice was as crystal clear and bright as ever, from start to the very end.
And indeed, Morning Bright Stars got me shivers up my spine.

Filming and even taking pictures was not allowed here too, although a few flashes came from somewhere behind me and security did not react to it.

Cheers,
Waldo

Hey Waldo, great to hear that you were at her concert in Amsterdam, although a pity that we didn't meet! Hey next time you and No

Hi Fieneke,

I still have to work out the setlist in detail, but Boulder to Birmingham has not been played in Amsterdam. The setlist is slightly changing night per night (I like that...).

Anyway, Red dirt girl and Love and Happiness were in it.

complete band line up:

Phil Madeira - Keyboards, Accordion, Guitar, Backing Vocals
Colin Linden - Guitars, Mandolin, Backing Vocals
Bryan Owings - Drums
Chris Donahue - Bass, Backing Vocals
Rickie Simpkins - Fiddle, Mandolin, Backing Vocals

Kimmie Rhodes joined on 3 or 4 songs, she was in the entrance hall after the concert, signing her CDs and taking pictures with everyone who wanted to!

Cheers,
Waldo

you recorded monsieur??

Need some extra glasses Pottel?  :D
I see Red Dirt Girl mentioned on dime at no.5, and so it was.

Strange the uploader is complaining about security being so alert. Probably they concentrate on him, so I had no problem at all taping the complete show in excellent (if I may say so) quality.

If people think it's worth to upload my complete recording, I will consider to put some effort in it.
A sample can be found here: http://www.megaupload.com/nl/?d=BAJTA1XG

Waldo

Waldo thank you for your mail!  :-* I loved to listen to that song, it is a good quality! ;)

I have been watching on Dime and saw a person called Martijn had been recording too. IF your recording has a better quality (you can judge), then I sure am interested to download the whole concert from you instead of that of Martijn. So it is up to you, but you don't have to hurry, I can wait!  ;D
