Right - Bruce was terrific in Cardiff on Sunday night - but to matters in hand. My wife and I both had a go at this - completely independently of each other - and, quite amazingly, we had only one song different out of 14!!!

My pick was:

1. All Comers
2. Two Pairs of Hands
3. Smart Money
4. Black Tie Jobs
5. Fat Chance Dupree
6. Janine
7. Watch Me Gone
8. This One's Not Going To End Well
9. Ahead of the Game
10. Your Leading Man
11. Dolly Shop Man
12. Along a Foreign Coast
13. Nothing But Rain
14. The Boy

My wife had One Deep River instead of This One's Not Going To End Well (and a different order).

I will see if I can can fit the 15 songs we picked onto a CD - and add the new Going Home as a bonus track!

My list is only based on the album and the EP, the material which I've hard.

My feeling is that the album, as it stands, does not work as a record that I would want to play straight through - too many slow songs, and odd structure, with the energetic and guitar-based songs up front. Including All Comers, and spreading out Two Pairs of Hands / Ahead of the Game/ Scavengers Yard, makes this more of a vintage Knopfler album in my view, more akin to GH / STP / RPD.

Here goes:

1. All Comers
2. Two Pairs of Hands
3. Janine
4. Ahead of the Game
5. Watch me Gone
6. Scavengers Yard
7. Tunnel 13
8. Before My Train Comes
9. One Deep River

That's all I need. ODR is a majestic closer and should remain in that slot, though the best and most epic songs may in fact be Watch Me Gone and Tunnel 13.

I think the ODR sessions are the most interesting since STP. I'd have loved to see a Privateering-alike double CD release; there's so much good material on the Bonus LP and EP! The regular 12-track release is brilliant, it flows really well. That said, I've been listening to the sessions like this:

CD 1:
Two Pairs Of Hands
The Boy
Scavengers Yard
Bad Day For A Knife Thrower
Sweeter Than The Rain
Dolly Shop Man
Tunnel 13
Fat Chance Dupree
This One's Not Going To End Well
Before My Train Comes

CD 2:
The Living End
Your Leading Man
Chess
Smart Money
Janine
Ahead Of The Game
Along A Foreign Coast
Watch Me Gone
All Comers
One Deep River

Bonus CD:
Mr. Solomons Said
What I'm Gonna Need
Black Tie Jobs
Nothing But Rain
Wrong Un
