My most recent album purchase was Live and Let Live with Terry Evans and Bobby King, both of whom were Ry Cooder's backup singers for many years. Ry Cooder both played on the album and produced it. It was recorded in the late 80s, so it does have an 80s feel to it (drums, electric piano, big reverb), but it has some great tracks. Some really groovy and rock-y ones, and some lovely ballads too. Recommended.
Thnx

great album, but also tracker is  :thumbsup :thumbsup

I have both in my car for my daily travel to work and I discovered that Privateering has aged very well and I like almost every song, even the blues ones, except "Miss you blues" that still sounds as a boring nonsense to me, and that Tracker has aged for me very bad, I only can listen to "Laughs and jokes", "Basil" and then I skip every track until "mighty man", then skip until "Silver Eagle", and from there, skip songs until "Oklahoma ponnies" and "Time will end of sorrow", the rest are so boring to me that I can't stand listening to them...

Interesting, from the top of my head, I only still dislike seattle, submariner. Love all the rest, particularly miss you blues, do not understand the hate

Because it's a boring song, with boring lyrics and boring music that even is not by MK but from an old Woody Guthrie song, a total waste of space in Privateering that could had been saved for better songs like "River of grog" or "Occupation blues" that are far far far far better to me. To me, in a 0-10 scale, Miss You Blues is a 3. The other two mentioned by me are a 9.

"Seattle" is one of my favourites, a wonderful melody with very nice and evocative lyrics, "Submariner" is ok to me, non a favourite, but still far far far better that Boring miss you blues.

Will they release it on 7th October? It would be on the 30 years anniversary of the "Dire Straits" release. We probably discussed it before, but that date is getting nearer and more likely.

In that case they are very very late with an announcement. It must be half of november or later.

I don't think there is any point asking Guy about this anymore!! He has been very patient already and is busy with other things, the delay must be to do with the record company otherwise Guy would have said, and he must be busy with other things, for him the new album is finished.  He has already stated the album is to be released this year, so it can only be a matter of weeks to wait now.
Knopfler, Oldfield and Gilmour is all the guitar I need.
