Dark Side of the Moon
« on: August 14, 2013, 09:41:41 PM »
This is probably in the wrong forum but I know some of you are Floyd fans and I thought this might just be of interest:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/proginfo/2013/35/r2-darkside.html

One of my contacts advises me that they had an all-star premiere-style launch recently (which basically involved them all listening to this radio play, I think) but I have no idea if any of Floyd were there or not.

Tom Stoppard, who we met recently at a non-music festival in a field deep in the Wiltshire countryside, wrote a play entiled "Rock 'n' Roll" which has Floyd references - well Syd Barrett really. On holiday on the West Coast a few years back, our trip coincided by chance with a performance by the American Conservatory Theater and they had a booklet for sale that included  an article from "Vanity Fair" in which Stoppard talks about how the play came about; the article was entitled, "Here's looking at you, Syd". Around the same time, "Vanity Fair" offered an interview with Stoppard as a web exclusive and that may still be available on-line.

Today at 9.30 am (BST) a BBC2 radio show featuring "David Gilmour's tracks of my years" hosted by Ken Bruce might delight those who are into PF.
And she's sitting in her Lusso, in the early morning sun.

I bought RADIO TIMES for next week this afternoon and, reading it on a train journey home, noted that there are quite a few Floyd programmes on BBC radio channels next week. When I get a bit more time, I'll list them. If you're interested, though, you can probably find them on the BBC website.

for those interested in the recording process, here are some links, posted by Pottel (I think) some time ago :

Multitrack Breakdown from "The Record Producers" on BBC radio 2.

It's awesome ! Even Bjorn, the "gimourish" webmaster said to me that there are lots of cool info there he wasn't aware of.

Bear in mind that it is original  intercom sound from that night. A Floyd friend sent this clip to me from his facebook group a while ago. It remembered me of the scene in one of Guy's movie where Simon Tuchtener explains to the "locals" about the spot lights, too on a little piece of paper... I like the accent of Arthur Max.
