They could alternatively comprise a mini album on CD containing The Boy EP + ODR bonus vinyl EP tracks. Oh wait… that would probably be too convenient for the paying customer.

Might have to wait for the next studio albums box set for that 

Seriously, this album seems to have been marketed much more aggressively than any previous release, so I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of some form of mini album release in the future.

I personally would love something along the lines of the “One Take Radio Sessions” EP

Problem is I guess that One Take Radio Sessions was from a time when people actually bought CDs. Nowadays, not so much.

Even after all our panic it seems like 3,000 copies of The Boy was too many...

Yeah but the circumstances were limited in many ways .. only one day, only independent stores, not garantueed that they got copies, plus hundreds of other RSD releases in competition to spend your money otherwise. It seems like they tried to make an experiment to chose the least possible  way to sell records.
