Oh - I'm very excited too, unfortunately I don't visit any of the shows on that side of the pond. Let's hope that it won't take long for the first tour diary entry at guyfletcher.co.uk and richardbennett.com. Time flies! It's 8:00 am over there right now (http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/).

I am so excited!!! :D
I have been waiting for this tour for two years now! Finally the time is here!
Can`t wait to see the setlist.

Yes, I'm very excited too ! I visited the forum first thing this morning . Just to see, read and feel the excitement leading up to tomorrow. Hope things are going smoothly with the band and fans that are attending. HAVE FUN !
-
Imagine, they probably have production rehearsals today and are running through the set one more time at the moment :)
I'm looking forward to read everything available because this may be the first major MK tour since '96 that I will not have a chance to attend :(
I bet we'll get one of the first reviews on Isaac's blog. Looking forward to that!

This is what I found on MKNews today. It was placed by TK:
Whilst we would welcome reviews of shows on the Get Lucky tour, Mark has requested that set lists should not be made available. In respect of Mark's wishes we would ask that set lists are not posted on the MKNews Forum.
My first impression was: Well, here the paternalism starts again, but I remember that it was the same on the last tour. Ok, so MK does not want us to read the set lists on MKNews Forum and of course people over there should respect that. However, I think if anybody is interested, he could find some information at other places. What do you think? Should we follow this request and also not post any set lists here? I think it is just not an up-to-date-behaviour.

:disbelief I'll be avoiding the reviews and set lists too. So those that aren't please keep a record of things for us to catch up on later. Like the review if any from the "Seattle Times" page above.
Hope everyone has a great tour... :)

What about just adding the set-list to the upcomming torrents from the tour on the tracker? Then no-one that doesn

You can absolutely post the setlist here if you want to. It would be best to post it in the thread marked "Spoilers" though.
-
Yes! Let's have a place where we can talk about setlists and everything tour related without spoiling it for those who choose not to know.
In my opinion, a concert review without mentioning song titles just does not make sense.

So he wants me to wait until June 26th to surprinsingly discover him play R&J, SL, SFA & GH ? ;D
If MK really wants the setlists to stay unavailable, there's an easy solution : don't play the same setlist every night... ;)

good point tunnel85!

Exactly what I was going to say last night after the football but I was too tired!
Maybe an indication he is going to play a more varied setlist this time; he's never made a statement of this sort before, has he?
It's a kind of a nanny state now is it not being protected from knowing the setlist? I mean if one doesn't want to know - don't look!
-
I do agree with you DMG... But - lets just see what happens tonight.. :)

Totally agree Tunnel85 8),are you a politician by any chance :o For goodness sake its 2010,the set list will be in circulation before the show ends, whats the big deal, is he going to tell the media doing the concert reviews to review the gigs but aaaaaahhhhhhh dont mention the set list :disbelief :disbeliefdisbelief :disbelief

I don't remember the exact phrasing but I think he has... I'm pretty sure there was a similar statement two years ago.
-
So he doesn't want the set to be listed on official forums, what's the big deal? He probably has his reasons.
Those who want to know it know where to look, I don't understand why some people are getting upset about this!
-
I think we HAVE to have the setlists here, what kind of forum would we be?
But everyone who post setlists and reviews: please only in the Get Lucky tour part and maybe better use the word spoiler in the subject.
-
Only use the respective night's thread, as i have created for seattle. It already contains the warning "spoilers"
-
Are you going to make one thread for every night? It is a good idea I think!
But loads of work mr. Pottel :P

richards' latest entry.
Seattle, Washington 7 April, 2010
Welcome back to the Notes and for those who are new, c'mon in and make yourselves at home. This will be a daily (more or less) posting while on tour with Mark Knopfler through July 31st. There'll be bits about the shows, food, drink, tourist attractions...what have you. Let's get going here.
The first show of the tour is tomorrow night, but we all arrived at The Moore Theatre here in Seattle at 5 this afternoon for a couple hours of full production rehearsal. We'd rehearsed in London for three weeks in March, but tonight was about getting the lights and front of house sound set. It was especially important for me as I had a very bad scalding accident the final three days in London. Exactly two weeks ago today I spilt a boiling cup of coffee all over my right hand. I ran it under cold water and thought it would be fine, but within a half hour it felt like it was cooking from the inside out and indeed it was. By midday it had blown up like a water balloon and off I went to a plastic surgeon. I won't go into the details, this is not a topic for teatime, but I returned home to Nashville and continued seeing a burn doctor who assured me I would be able to play the first show. A real race against time as even a week ago it still looked like a hunk of raw meat and unusable as a hand, but in the last few days much healing has occurred. Still, I wasn't sure if I could actually play and tonight's production rehearsal would tell the tale. I was very nervous about it but pulled it off better than I could've hoped for and am feeling so confident about tomorrow's first show...can't wait to get out on the boards again.
We have a couple of wonderful new musicians joining us for this part of the tour, Mike McGoldrick the brilliant U.K. pipes, whistle and Irish flute player and Tim O'Brien a star of the folk world both in America and the U.K. They have both brought a new dimension to the usual line up. Our pal John McCusker will be joining us again for the European part of the tour in June and July. John and soon-to-be Mrs. McCusker, Heidi Talbot, have just had their first baby and John is sitting things out for a few weeks while he learns to change nappies and walk the floor all hours of the night.
We're all rested and excited to be out touring again. If you can't make one of the shows, you can still tag along with us through these notes as well as Guy Fletcher's great daily tour diary. Thanks for reading and come back often.
So long,
Richard
-
Thank you Pottel, but how did you get Richard's diary?
I couln't find it on his site www.richard-bennett.com
-
It's right there on the main page. He'll probably move it later to the proper section.
-
Wow, we will have Richard's daily (more or less) postings, Guy's diary, and Isaac's tour blog!!! Can't wait!!!!!!!!!
-
Yes, so many diaries but hardly a word about Mark... It seems he has to be a person non grata for very diarist. For an MK tour diary it is very much NOT about him. But still great. One has to be thankful about the efforts both band members take during a surely tiring tour schedule.
LE
-
well, if you want a diary centered on one person, that person has to write it! And we all know that's not gonna happen with Mark.
He's only one of the dozens of people who could right an interesting diary about the tour. Isaac Richard anf Guy do it very well. Like you said, let's enjoy!!
-
Mark is not very interested on that, and I think thats the reason because Guy didn
-
I must say that the quality of Guy's diary has definitely increased compared to the last ones. They are all great but this one has a very relaxed and nice
feeling over all. And he is much more open for private things than usual about his family and stuff. It seems he and the others really enjoy that trip so far!
I like that picture with Danny, Mark and guy on the bench, waiting in the sun.

Yeahhh Rollergirl, I agree with you! ;D I don't want to miss anything, but it is hard to read everything! I just don't have time enough, especial when I miss a thread it is hard to catch up with all the messages! I am not allowed to read at work, except the diary of Guy during break, but then I need to read very quick! ;D
