About Tim O'Briens site:
Now that is what I call really interstesting Notes from the Road! Not always about planes and restaurants (he he he) but really about details! Great!
Never knew he would do that! It was not communicated by Guy, right?
Two little things immediately I read there:

"Mark has his own guy who does all the effects"

And, about that above mentioned Telecaster, that little amp and Coyote:

"We turned it all the way up and i get this really sparse but crucial part. Just one more detail to handle. Many more to go, of course, but we've learned about eighteen songs."

So, only 18.... And not 32?

And, because I do not want to sound negative, these nice words about the meet-ups at the bar after the shows:

"Mark really cares about it getting it right so we can dig deeper into the groove and do the best we possibly can."

And, funny enough, not only tea during the Encores break:

"We go off stage, knowing we'll play encores. There are beers and wine glasses and margaritas, and a non-alcoholic drink for Matt Rollings."

So, that will be enough to spoil it for you. I think this diary is really huge! What could we all have been told during the last tours if this obviously
intelligent, nice and friendly person would have been in the band! I am beginning to hope that maybe this guy will stay in the band for Europe!
He seems to play a lot of guitar parts during a lot of songs and not only John's stuff!

Love expresso I think Tim means that "the effect guy" is Mr Saggers, because he has presets in the rack and there comes delays etc. to Mark sound.

I was also thinking that could it be possible that Tim continues also to European leg. I mean when band gets used to overdriven extra sounds, after that song might sound a bit empty. But mayde John....

Yes of course. It is just all a little bit clearer and unconcerned here, not so much damped because of Mark's instructions it seems.. ;D

I must put in here: I haven't seen a show yet, even haven't heard one, but after all I read about the shows this set list seems to work great! A rock number like CMG so early in the show, followed by HFB is really a great perspective! Maybe Tim O'Brien could stay in the band, together with John!
Or maybe John doesen't come back at all, which on one hand would be a pity because he is such a great guy and I like his Cittern very much! But some
fresh musos in a band are always great to have, in every band!

I would not overrate the videoing that much. Every middle class band has a big video screen on stage these days. It is more that MK has reached the usual "status-quo", after the nice round guitar picture-panel in 2008. To be honest, his light show is less than average compared to other bands in my
opinion. But that is ok because MK attendants are going to listen and not to be blown away by ultra modern technology!

But it will be nice to have a look maybe directly on his fingers during the Sultans "twiddely bits"...

I find it difficult to believe that they are varying the setlist at this point with a DVD in mind - the first shows of a tour normally have some production flaws and the arrangements are not yet fully worked out. But I keep my fingers crossed for a DVD eventually.

Guy has the Portland entry online and has a good and long explanation why they cancelled "Coyote"! I am not sure I got everything but it seems it
was just a technical problem with the samples. Let's hope he can fix it until tomorrow!

So there is some hope that Coyote will survive!

Astonishing that he is very communicative about the set-list, no secrets at all from Guy's side me thinks.

So that's when they decide how many songs to play for the encore, and why they cut out some of the final songs sometimes.

;) Or because of the curfew. I've seen during the Oslo gigs, that MK gives some signs to different crew members after the "conference". And because they usually base in Oslo, they don't have to cach a plane, so Oslo always get's the longest set with a full encore. I think they during previous US-tours somtetimes have dropped both Going Home and Our Shanri-la, due to time trouble.

Yes, but according to GF, it's a union thing. They have to use local crew, and the local crew are according to union rules entitled to an obligatory break between the rigging/soundcheck and the show. And then the airport maybe closes at 11 pm... And MK is playing a new show in a new place almost every day. The only solution to this is never to play two shows after oneanother in different places in USA, or to have two stages and crews that alernate.

I agree... Get Lucky is a bit "radio friendly" in my ears. If you know what I mean... Praire Wedding is one of my favorites from STP. It has real feel to it. A very nice story, told in a great way! I think it is one of the most descriptive songs Mark has ever written... :)
