If Guy is the one who is doing the setlist changes it's a good change. I like it when he changes it, but no Bonaparte  ;)

Totally agree, it's very disappointing.   No mention of Before Gas & TV either, which would have been good to hear with Monteleone and Get Lucky for the acoustic part.    :-\

Not disappointing at all, IMO, they are all great songs, but I wish they played a 20-songs set, because then they could have played more of the new songs so many of you miss.

Of course, they are great songs, but we have heard them too many times now, when there are such acoustic gems to be heard from the new album.   Maybe by the time he arrives in UK and Europe we will be lucky enough to hear them.   Gas & TV is my favourite from the album and I would love him to include it somewhere whilst on tour!    :)

That's the problem reading the set list beforehand. We are disapointed by the title of some songs, but I am sure all the songs we will hear live will be amazing to hear live!

Another problem will be if he doesn't play a song we like at "our" gig when he played it at others.

Yes, that's the downside by changing songs all the time, espesially if you're going to one show only (like me :( ).

Even if he does play songs such as Donegan, Bonapart, OSL, etc at my gigs, I will still be bowled over, as usual.

My cousin and her husband are going to Brighton with us and they have never been to an MK concert before, so everything will be fresh for them and, of course many more who have never seen an MK gig, so I am happy for those people!     :)

So I was expecting that they will play more slow and acoustic stuff, only Bonaparte and so on. So I am very pleased with this list. And I am very very happy that Mark is still touring. Mark doesn

Yes, I understand what you are saying. So you want more new songs, more GH-songs, and more old DS songs like TOL and such? Yes, I agree, that would be very nice, but they are records, this is MK live. You eithe like him or listen to the old records... I'm sorry you are so disappointed, and I am afraid you'll continue so througout the rest of MK's live cariere :'(

I have seen every tour live since OES, including the 3 shows in London 2002

He has become very very lazy lately

I am not saying he has to play exactly what we want or what I want
but the more the albums the more the songs he can choose
and instead he changes always less

It's a fair point. The tours have been similar since 2005, with no "new" DS songs, for example, and the same core songs.

I see your point Pensaboy. When you think about the thousands of songs he has in his repertoire..... what a shame...
BUT, it is only disapointing to us get-a-lifers who see him every tour, for the other 99% , everything is new! I am sure my brother (first MK show ever) will love it and my son will be happy just to hear Romeo (although he will be disapointed at the absence of MFN).

And I know I will have a great time too hearing the same old songs too!! With hopefully new arrangements.

Come on guys, it's not so bad!  I think if they'd started with this set then it wouldn't come in for such criticism.  It's still pretty good IMO with more new songs than last tour had, Coyote really intrigues me and HFB, one of the favourites around these parts from the last tour, is still there too.  All in all many positive aspects to take from the current set of songs and who says they won't change them again... :)

I use Vuze to download, and WinAmp to listen to flac files. Google it and check it out, it's not very complicated once you get those two programs. I believe with Nero, you can even burn flac files as a regular audio CD.

You must register to the site first of all.  Then choose a client with which to open the .torrent files, I use uTorrent 2.0 and it is available to download for free from their internet site:  http://www.utorrent.com/

Having done this click just in front of where it says "Click to Download" on the .torrent file (your arrow should turn to a hand symbol) from the link above and choose a suitable folder to save it in such as My Music.  Once you've saved the .torrent file, open uTorrent and click on "add torrent" to open the file.  It should then start to download assuming people are seeding.  Remember to keep the file open after it's finished downloading so that you are then seeding - this keeps your ratio up.

Better not. I am a little bit disapointed to be honest. It sounds all very lame in my very own opinion. After all those enthusiastic first reviews I think it is
not a bit as good as the 2008 tour. He sings very low and everything sounds pretty much as on the album. "Rocks?" Hmmm. I deleted it immediately
and will try to forget it till I am in London. His guitar has a good and clean sound though.  But I will not spoil it to anybody of course, it might be up to the quality of the sound recording which is great for a bootleg.  However, I am not listening too much to audience recordings in general, so I might be judging too hard. Thanks however for the link and to the person that made it happen. I hope for some development when the tour has had its first 20 shows or so.

Sorry to be the stinker.

I think the sound is great, but I am missing John McCusker's fiddle, especially on What it Is and I am not particularly keen on Tim O'Brien's voice on STP.   I'm up to SOS now, so a long way to go - sounds good!

I said earlier that I was disappointed that Donegan was on the set-list.   Well, this version is great - a much improved arrangement imo!  WOW!

I have only heard a couple of songs, but Mark sounds like he's been touring for months with that low voice. And what about those strange guitar chords in Border Reiver, they must be played by a non-guitar-player. Hmm.

And Coyote sounds less groovy than on the record. All those people on stage and yet such a thin sound. It could be the recording to some extent, but where is the piano and the twangy guitar during the verses? I'm a bit sceptical but I have a long way to go. Mark's guitar licks sound fresh though.

Tallgren - I agree with both yourself and LE, it seems to lack something - a bit of oomph!   I was particularly disappointed with Marbletown, it is nowhere as powerful as the 2008 version and altogether the whole sound lacks body.  I don't really think it is because John isn't there, because he was absent at Red Rocks in 2008 and that was a fabulous show.   I am pretty disappointed and hope we have John McCusker back for the UK and European gigs.   :-\

Maybe he`s got a sore throat or something.. The tour is long people, everything can happen. Well, we`ll see how it goes, i`m not complaining right now! ;D

Mind you, I like Mark's low singing on tracks like Sonny Liston and the way he sang on the OES tour. I just don't like the whispering mumbling.

Anyway, Why Aye Man is excellent. I can see why they swapped Cleaning My Gun for this one, it's so full of energy and has a strong chorus. But why not do both of them?  ;D

Hey, I think Tim does a good job on STP, though he forgets the lyrics. Note that when he sings (mumbles) "you talk of liberty", Mark answers "Do I?"  ;D Kind of ruins the serious mood, but what the heck. It's all fun anyway.

LOL Val, I am sure they will be as excited as I was in 2008 and I am already excited now by reading all the news!! ;D I can't wait to meet you, your cousin and other fans this year!

Before Gas and TV is one of my favourites too and I hope he will sing that one and also Monteleone, Border Reiver, Get Lucky and Piper Till the End!!LOL  .............BUT when he doesn't, I don't mind, there are already many beautiful and great songs played! I am sure I will have a great time again! ;D

Hey Val, I didn't hear the sound yet! After I got my new computer, I still have to find out again how to download de torrents etc. A while ago I saw I still have access to the Spanish tracker, but because I have to make maps, torrents etc for the downloads again, I didn't use it a long time! I wish I had much more time and knowledge about this kind of things. :-[ ::)

Well Coyote isn't one of my favourites, but as you know TR and Speedway weren't either in 2008 .......TILL I heard them for the first time at the concert. Whaauwww I LOVED it! Same might happen now with songs I didn't hear life before! ;D

The intro was a little slow but the outry was pretty cool.

But, ladies and gents: MARBLETOWN. Absolutely stunning. Great intro, great outro. Full of energy, sounding chaotic and controlled at the same time. They really shine on this one.

I think the show is great.  I big step up from the last tour if this one is representitive and the best thing being the nice clean powerful tone of Mark's guitars.  Very surprisingly What It Is was one of the best versions, due to this powerful sounding guitar and it seemed more uptempo too.  In fact the show as a whole has a more uptempo, powerful feel about it.  Sultans is much shorter, maybe just because it's the start of the tour, but it had some punch which it lacked on the previous tour.  Now we just need more so we can make a true reflection on how the tour is going.  I must say a big well done to the taper for one of the best sounding recordings ever - it really is excellent.

Yes, I think you are very right, Ingrid. I have listened to a lot of bootlegs and audience recordings (even of my own gigs), and you have to ad some bass, punch, warmth and dynamics by your imagination, because these kind of recordings always lack of such. They don't do the performance fully justice. But they're always better on a big sound system. I remember I once had a Sony Walkman with some headphones that worked particularly well with bootlegs, but not that well with studio recordings :).

Am listening to it now. Just got home from working night shift, but won't go to bed before I heard the whole concert  ;D

First impression is very good. Mark sounds good (actually he's starting to sound better and better along the way during the concert). Great fresh guitar sound and slightly more uptempo than last tour. So far I'm really impressed and getting more and more excited about seeing him perform in June. Maybe I will even get me a ticket for a 3rd concert  ;D

Only disapointment is the fact that he already seems to have dropped 'Cleaning My Gun' , which happens to be my favorite song on the Get Lucky album. But perhaps it will show up again later  ::)

the show is great. listening to it continiously since last night, as in all the time...
people, when using the spanish city "light" tracker, always think about marking the stuff you get from there as being "mp3/lossy" as it is otherwise possible to "pollute" the trading pool, meaning, unknowingly uploading lossy shows as "lossless" shows and thus spreading wrong info.

LE :-[

Sorry to say but i have to agree with you. It reminds me of the ATRR tour when everything was new to all of them and they didn't gel until well into the tour.

I don't post here very often, even though I've been a member of AMIT for some time now and met Pottel at the Princes' Trust gig, (I'm feeling better now though!  :lol). I need an answer to a question if anyone here can help.
There's an extremely negative review on mk.com for the LA gig, saying the sound was amateurish and the audience started leaving before the end of the show.
Can any of you guys confirm or deny this, I remain unconvinced after reading all the other rave reviews so far.
Regards

Denmark, I just read Isaac Shabtay's report from Oakland and he said Mark was in very high spirits and was even dancing!   The mind boggles!   :o

I did notice that he only joined that forum today, nice of him to join and then be totally negative.
Unless I hear otherwise, I don't believe people were leaving early. If it turns out to be true, it'll be a first!!

start of DG sounds like Paris texas...very cool intro.
who does the slide?? MK or RB??

I think it was a blues classic calles "Dark is the night" or something like that, you may remember Guy made the music for a documentary about stars etc etc and MK played slide on that song with the same title.

Pottel, the documentary is called "Seeingin the dark" and the song is " Dark was the night Cold was the ground "

Look at this

I think the only way that people would leave the gig early would be to catch the last bus or train home.

OMG you all make me soo curious!! I want to listen also, but after I got a new computer, I still have to put the GB250 hard drive from the old one, with the bittorrents the things I download 2 years ago for sharing etc, into the new one!  :o

I know I should have done this a long time ago, but there is always a lack of time and I need my sons to do that for me! I can have funny talks about how great Mark looks like, but don't ask me something about technical things of computers!!  :-[ ...I don't know anything!!  ;D

Question: In 2006 I joined Dime, but the program doesn't recognize me anymore. Do they delete accounts when they aren't used for a few months or even one year? (if they do I can of course understand that!) I made today a new account, but it is a pity that my upload or download credits are gone! :(

I also have still an account at the Spanishtracker, BUT to use that, I first need my old drive because I have there some of the files I created and need to share again with all of you.

Ooohh I wish things like that weren't soo difficult!   ;D
