@Allen : sure you can (this pic was taken from some "googling" research) ;)
Wow, great great great : a guest and LOCAL HERO !!! Things are changing.
My friend Elian was at Dublin (well we should have been there but with a new baby coming we had to cancel so we had given the tickets) and after an horrible travel from France he told me the concert in Dublin was excellent (with a very long STP). Much better than in New York where he was too.
Pics and review will be posted soon.
As Belfast was great from what Isaac said, with a wonderful Marbletown (my favourite from 2008).
And now some setlist changes in Glasgow: the european leg starts very well !!!

Local hero in a Celtic arrangement at Glasgow - can only mean we are going to get the full band version tonight in Newcastle - I can't believe Mark would come here and not play the tune that 50,000 geordies are treated to on a saturday afternoon when their team comes running out onto the pitch at St James Park.
The anthem is synonymous with the north east and everybody up here knows it.

Phil guested on Bonaparte and Piper too!
MK seemed particularly inspired last night. You could see a wee twinkle in his eyes and he was smiling to himself! This resulted in an extended solo in HFB which was stunning and by far and away the best version of Coyote I've heard yet. Speedway and TR were really powerful too and he seemed to be like the MK of yesteryear. I really hope a recording turns up of this show.
I must also say that it was really nice to meet Draad pre-show. What a really nice chap and post show bumping into him again and meeting Dusty (however briefly). Maybe next time! I met up with a couple that I have known from MK shows for years last night so we caught up.
Last, but not least, on the way out we met Phil Cunningham! We told him how much we all enjoyed the show where he interviewed MK and he said it was just like two pals meeting up and going for a day out and he was so pleased the way it turned out.

Thanks dmg, for your review! Maybe we will meet in Manchester? We are Block B Row A #17 & 18 :)

I checked and don't know how but Unfortunately I'm not going to Manchester. :(
I usually go to the RAH shows but not this year. I'm going to see him in Lucca this year and have a wee holiday in tuscany while I'm there.
Hopefully we'll meet sometime and put a face to the opinions! :)

I thought the show at the SECC was 2hrs 15mins of brilliance.
You could see that Mark was really enjoying the performance. You could also see that he was in pain at times. I imagine the endorphins during a show help, but I wonder what he's like when he wakes up in the morning?!
I hadn't heard Coyote, Donegan, or Bonaparte live before and was v pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed them all, esp Coyote. Border Reiver to open and Piper to close - brilliant! Great to see Danny really motoring in Speedway and TR and Guy seemed to be playing a lot of guitar, including electric at one point. Mark was v gracious and complimentary about Phil Cunningham, which was nice to hear. My highlights of the night - a great Prairie Wedding and even greater Hill Farmer's Blues!
Now looking forward to Brighton and the RAH.
dmg, Dusty - v nice to have met you both!
-
draad, see you in brighton then,...
-
Will look forward to it Pottel!

Will this at least for once put an end to the "So Far from the Clyde" will be played in Glasgow posts?
Or will the venue for the speculation now change to another?
-
be a bit more flexible zigner. ;D
at least we should try to keep it exciting, if mark doens't....

It will be played on the yet to be released Indian dates. ;)

oh lord. I'm dying here for a recording!
-
I made a recordiong but I think my MD recorder failed. :(
I can't say for certain yet, as my headphones are in my car, which broke down en route to the gig.
The whole thing was a nightmare, but to be honest it just made me appreciate the gig itself even more when I eventually got their via bus, train and taxi.
I'll write more after, need to get to the bank to withdraw some cash to buy another car!
-
PS very nice to meed Arthur, DMG and Isaac for the first time, and to bump into old friends Jordan from California and US Blonde! In fact I hadn't met US Blonde (aka Valicia) before, but it felt like I had. :)

Review:

You suspect the group entering the Mark Knopfler concert clad in Dire Straits headbands were slightly disappointed by the evening
-
Thanks a lot for that, I've been searching for a review all weekend just in hope but kind of knowing all the time one would appear on Monday!
-
Here are a few pictures taken by a friend of mine from the show:
-
...and last but not least my mate (left), Phil Cunningham (middle) and myself sporting my MK inspired shirt!
-
mm, what's with the "full of fun, filled with Taste" in the background, where the heck did you guys meet? ;D
-
Nice one DMG!
-
I took a few pics too, will get them up ASAP. I hadn't planned on taking any as it really distracts me from the concert, but I wanted to capture a few of Phil Cunningham as I know that special guests are very rare these days.
Checked my MD, recording not there. :(
I wonder if one of those programs that gets deleted pictures from memory sticks might retrieve it?
-
Dusty;
You should have got a Toyota like I did! You deserve some kind of award for persistence for making it to the show after that.
-
So Dusty, was the surprise worth staying away from forums? You didn't comment on setlist yet :)
-
Apart of the Dusty failed attemp, nobody else recorded this show?

One friend of mine I met at the show spoke of new equipment her husband had but I'm unsure if he had used it (to record the show ;D)! I will attempt to contact her and ask in a slightly more polite manner!

That would be great, it looks like a very special concert to have :D

Finally got round to taking my pics off my camera, uploaded them all here, some are well out of focus but thought I would let you have them all anyway. :)

Got a reply from my friend and sorry to report that they didn't record the show. :(
-
From one of the papers here after the show. :)
Jordan from California and US Blonde were at least two of the people giving ovations and annoying this beer soaked killjoy. :)

Isn't that from the Metro a while back? They had two articles about the concert, one where someone replied to this. Both rather embarrassing regarding our drinking culture. The staff at the SECC should not have handed out alcohol to those who clearly had had far too much.
