I have noticed on a few of the recordings that he praises the venues he is playing at saying things like 'what a beautiful theatre' etc.
Can't wait to hear what he says about the arena tonight! Something along the lines of 'what a ****ing diabolical place to host a music performance' methinks ;)

Why aye man is back
-
Why aye! It's been played a lot but it's a strong one and you can't complain about a beginning consisting of Border Reiver, WII and Why Aye. Nice going.
-
Would be great to have Jimmy Nail and Tim Healy as guests. Any luck? ;D
-
According to a sms I received right now from a friend who is in georgieland, they played Why aye man instead What it is, and Wild theme (Local hero) again...
Aparently the t-shirts with the tour dates has Valencia (50 km from where I live) instead Murcia (more than 200 km from where I live), bad that the t-shirt is wrong >:(

No What it is:-(
Wonder where it went - my fav MK solo song.
Other than that it was the best ever MK concert I have seen.
The band were so tight, in unison and enjoyed every minute of it as did the audience.
And he plays better sat down than standing up. Vocals were tip top - its like he didn't ant to let the home crowd down.
Nice one Mark.
Had to produce credit card for tickets though.
-
Only 2 songs from Get Lucky - odd considering its the GL tour!
-
Hope there's a recording it was some gig.
-
Yeah it's good to see Why Aye Man back this song is a must! Too bad about What it is though! And to hell with Bonaparte, I don't know why Mark isn't bored of this song,Unless he changed something to make it sound different or even better like Donegan's Gone otherwise there is no point, really ...
-
No doubt that MK didn't want to let the Geordies down - and, as usual, he delivered. As he said before Going Home: "I've just GOT to play this here"...
Strong performance - possibly the best that I've seen. Simon's right too - the band were fantastic, a really tightly-knit performance.
The sound was fine, and the venue wasn't too much of a problem for me in the end. Don't know how it would have sounded at the back though...?
-
Plus, Going Home played with a flute/whistle just made it that little bit different to the Glasgow show the night before which sounded more 'caledonian' :) And it was one of the nicest pieces MK has played of the 'acoustic' version too. he was literally note perfect on it.
Danny was as good if not better than ever and it was a sight to see very often, 4 strummed instruments playing simultaneously. The whole show must have taken some arranging - there is no way it was a set of rehearsals and that is it - each played their own important part and it showed how versatile they all are as musicians.
The sounds was excellent for this venue although I was only 6 rows from the stage and fairly central.
-
Based on the youtube video from the glasgow gig ,I think they played Wild Theme and not Going Home ,they are quite similar. Phil is an amazing musician he adds a lot to this tune ,I would love to have some recordings from these.
-
Nice setlist! Actually, I'm glad bonaparte is back! ;D Go ahead, shoot me! :lol
-
Pity What It Is didn't get an airing though. And even though we would all know it wouldn't happen, there was still this tiny part of me that said that Tunnel of Love was going to come back. I can dream though...
-
Long live Bonaparte !! shoot me too ! :)
WII is a great song, but unlike WAM it does not really work well live; I would love to have both, but if I have to pick one I would choose WAM. Check out the 2002 charity concert video, with Jimmy Nail and Chris White on sax - full of energy, and at least there is one official video of it (even if it is not on DVD/BR)

+1. See my stupid miskate when I was fooled into believing that TOL was back in Dublin. See my threat about a MK movie as well... I think MK does not want to play it anymore because 1) it was his dad's favourite and 2) it is very phyiscally demanding and he would get out of breath. Now I think that 1) 17 years of grief may be enough and wherever he is, Mark's dad would certainly not be angry at his son for playing his fav song again, and 2)there is certainly a way to slow the song down a bit (like was done for TR, SoS or WOL) for him to be able to do it, but, who am I to say ??? I guess we have to be satisfied with the great remixed Alchemy version. Love it, prefer 91/92 version but no soundboard versions exist to my knowledge... Sarting 1985 TOL was enhanced with backing vocals of all members, not just Mark, singing "Tunnel of Looooove..." and with a nice piano break + band introductions. Not on Alchemy. Too bad.
-
Please man ,don't mention TOL again ,You got me pretty badly that night. Even though I knew something like that would never happen, still I wanted to believe he played it even if it was for only 20 minutes.
-
Please accept my apologies again... never wanted to hurt. Got pretty hurt myself actually...
-
Well actually I wanted to say thanks as you can't imagine how I felt for those minutes.I kept thinking how would TOL sound with Mark's voice at this age, Goosebumps, simply perfect I was on fire really.

Considering the millions made from merchandising on the back of the Get Lucky album and the Get Lucky tour - it would seem odd for anyone not to play a fair proportion of songs from their latest album which the tour is supposedly promoting.
-
which pink floyd always used to do as well, even played the whole dark side of the moon before it even got released, or half the animals album.

Considering the millions made from merchandising on the back of the Get Lucky album and the Get Lucky tour - it would seem odd for anyone not to play a fair proportion of songs from their latest album which the tour is supposedly promoting.
The thing is though that the album was released a while ago now so most people already have it. When the OES tour started, for example the album hadn't yet been released and on that tour they played quite a lot of new songs helping to promote it. In short, I don't think he tours now specifically to promote an album but solely because he enjoys touring.

Aye. That
-
What I was referring to though is that the merchandise - and there is a lot of it - is aimed at the 'Get Lucky World Tour' which obviously isn't a Get Lucky tour. So why is it that it is being promoted as such? It would be better if it was simply Mk on tour without mention or reference to an album. He/they/it can't have it both ways.
-
Isn't the name "GL tour" not just a reason to tour anyhow? ;D They would do it without new album as well. Maybe they should call it "a new tour, volume I" and so on. :lol
-
Nice setlist! Actually, I'm glad bonaparte is back! ;D Go ahead, shoot me! :lol
Aaaah, just shut the f*** up :disbelief :lol
-
Yeah, Bonaparte is one of his greatest! ;)

Just back from Newcastle, reading this thread, it was really great. Great to be in Newcastle, great to meet a couple of forummembers, the weather was excellent, so as an extra a little suntan :D
I enjoyed the show a lot, you all know Bonaparte is not my biggest favorite but I loved it. Band was enjoying themselves, lot of smiles on stage. I hope to upload some pics one of these days.

Great! Glad you enjoyed the show Ingrid!

Ingrid, glad you had a great time. I would love to see a show in Newcastle.

It

Well, it was sad not to get What It Is (especially when I was totally expecting it given the previous 30-odd performances on this tour), but I think we've just got be pragmatic about it all now.He didn't play it, so that's the way it goes. We didn't get Get Lucky either, but we did get (in my opinion) a very good Bonaparte.
I think we also got an MK who seemed genuinely very determined to give his home crowd a great show. He even got carried away enough to get out of his chair whilst playing Speedway.
By the way, thanks to those who had a chat with me before and after the show. It was great to see you.
-
Maybe I'll meet up with you in Manchester, Niiice1! Block B RowA #17 & 18! :)

Hello... Sadly, Newcastle was the only gig I could make... :(

Was Phil Cunningham there? There is one pic in Guy

Here are some pics from Newcastle. Unfortunately there were some shades on mk's face.

Thanks for the pics, Ingrid. Are you using the new camera?
-
Ingrid, congrats on getting decent shots of Glenn and Danny. Glenn is hard to photograph in concert -- because he never stops moving, and in that light, it's hard to get a sharp shot. Danny's hard because he's behind so much equipment. Good to see MK standing, too.
