I hope they will but I'm not very optimistic ;D

Hope it's filmed in HD and released somehow. :)

It might be released, but we have to be patient about this, it takes loooooong time.

Matt has written on Facebook that he is being filmed tonight so he is going to wear a good shirt. :)
So it seems they expect it to be released...

Well, I guess they all know this long before, if its true that the owner of the festival put as condition that every show its filmed.
I do hope its released, or broadcast, as I heard some of the shows are.

My feeling is that MK decided to do Montreux this year because he knew it would be filmed.
It doesn't mean that he would allow nor expect a release.
Video -official or not- is definitely not his thing.
But he is a major artist and he knows that he must do something.
Montreux is just what he needs : professional video, minimum involvement for him, no stress.
In a couple of months or years, MK just has to give them a call : "let's release". :)

Nah, I bet he decided to do it because they offered him good money. He probably doesn't care either way about the video.
The downside is they are filming one of the last shows in the tour when it seems everybody is a bit jaded. :-\

Leaving work now and going to the train station.... ;D
I'm ready for Monteleone. Whatever he wants, even R&J. :)

Have a great time, tunnel85! :D

How I wish I could be in Switzerland... I've always wanted to see MK in Switzerland... Had made plans for that in 2003 but then we all know what happened and I ended up seeing Bon Jovi in Zurich instead of MK ;D
Have fun, y'all.

Well, the fact that there may not be an official MK tour DVD does not necessarily mean there won't be an official Montreux DVD which happens to contain a certain MK performance ;D
-
yes, or TV broadcast;)
it would be so great....

This is GREAT version !!!!!!!!!!!

I promised to write a review of my previous show in Prague. I never did...
Here we go for that one. ;D
Very special show for me because it's my local show.
Mark had not been seen around Lake Geneva for so long...
Now he has the address, nice location, nice weather.
And nice people, very quiet and polite audience. No people filming ;)
I think we're in good shape for next tour ;)
The show was filmed and everything went smooth. No mistake. No finger of death. No people yelling "Mark I love you". The show is releasable on dvd ;) Need to enter a church and light a couple of candles...
Mark was in a good mood, smiling during first part of the show. A couple of french words. Usual jokes : no disco dancing, Matt having one hand for his accordion, one holds an apple , another hand

tunnel85, Thank you very much for your review of the Montreux concert, which I have been eagerly awaiting! I am so glad you had a good time and enjoyed the concert. I really hope we can look forward to a DVD of the show before too long. I will keep my fingers crossed and say a little prayer! ;D I hope you have a good time at the Monaco gig too. :)

You're welcome. I'm sure I will have a good time in Monaco ;D
I have no idea of what's cooking there but I'm really excited to go. ;)
Montreux was exactly as I expected it to be. I really enjoyed it, like a child.
I can enjoy differently now. Maybe I can focus on taking pictures next time. 8)

Montreux DVD ....
Montreux can release nothing without artist permission
Absolutely, but at least one important step is done.
Usually having video cameras filming is only in our dreams. ;D
-
Agree that a DVD would be a miracle.
But the miracle is possible.
-
We should all be optimistic and hope for a DVD - less pessimism! ;) I feel sure we will GET LUCKY! ;D
-
Mark was looking so tired : closed eyes during the whole show. :-[
Well I don't think that MK closes his eyes because of his suffering.
I think that it's a matter of concentration, he plunges into his own world, just like he was melting (allow me this comparison) with his guitar to spring out that stunning melodies.

Q & A from Guy Fletcher's Forum...
Montreux DVD
Daniel, Madrid, Spain, 16th July 2010
Dear Doc, as you may know, since some time ago, Eagle records is putting out a lot of DVDs/BluRays of some of the artists that have played Montreux Jazz Festival in their different years. It seems they record every show there. Can you let us know if there was any video recording yesterday with possibility of publication? Cheers!
Guy's Reply : Did they film us?
??? What kind of reply ?
Guy surely knows that the show had been filmed... But I think they are not interested in releasing the DVD...
But still my heart says "Mark Knopfler - Live in Montreux" will be released...

No finger of death for them? Then at least Mark knew they'd be filming. ;D ;D ;D
Just kidding!

Montreux was not only filmed in HD but the whole festival is shot in 3D.
I can tell you that this is not meant to remain unreleased ;) but we have to remember what happened in 2001.
