Title: David Gilmour and Roger Waters secret gig
Post by: Spiritinthesky on July 23, 2010, 12:08:05 PM
David Gilmour and Roger Waters played together at a secret gig in Oxfordshire, England last week  for the Hoping Foundation Benefit in front of just 200 people!

Could we have a Pink Floyd reunion?

Some pics on novelist and Floyd lyricist Polly Samson's site, looks like they were having fun.

bit late, but hey, it is great news of course.
Dave promised to play on Comfortably numb on a (still to be defined) show of RW'S upcoming "The Wall" tour, only to make sure that Roger would sing on a particular song this evening.
now that will be great!!

Sure, and tickets for this tour in the US are about $200 for anything decent. $200 per ticket to watch Roger Waters attempt to re-live his "glory days" and lip-sync to a show full of songs he wrote over 30 years ago. Thanks, but I'll pass...I'm sure there are plenty of people that will take my place though...

Uh, how can there be a Floyd reunion if Rick Wright is dead?  :'( :'( :'(

The news that David and Roger performed together made me smile, though. I just wish they would have put their differences aside 10 years earlier.

They still have not. Roger have lost his anger against David and so they can share a stage for special event and did Live 8 before too late, as eric did with Cream and Stevie, and a thing that Mark is still reluctant to do, but until when?

So as it turns out, against my better judgment I caved and purchased tickets for the show on the 13th. Pottel, are you catching a show on this tour at all?

Roger Waters still puts on a pretty good show. The surround sound was amazing! I wish more bands would do that. It would have been a lot better to see David Gilmour on top of the wall playing Comfortably Numb instead of the other guitarist, but that's life.

It's worth catching one show I think. I was hesitant too because of the ticket prices, but I'm glad I went. You don't have to be up front in the expensive seats to enjoy the show- I was pretty far back and the sound and view were still amazing. In fact, with this kind of show, it's better to be further back I think.

Oh, and I would never download a single thing from Keith Litzenberger. Don't even get me started.  :-X
Besides, I made my own great recording of the same show.  :)

The recording? Sure, I'll try to get it edited this weekend.

what's up with wkl_taper?

About a year ago, there was a fairly popular band that allowed open taping. They performed a series of shows and specifically asked that people not record them as they were planning an official release from those nights. Keith, knowing this, taped all of them and still uploaded them hours after each show on DIME and TTD. Band and management found out shortly after and were upset to say the least. They now have banned open taping at ALL of their shows....all because of his actions.

A Roger Waters shows worth every single dollar / euro / pound / whatever you spend on it, just the visual effects and the pristine sound he uses in his show it worths the price, and if he plays The Wall, that was only performed few times in 1980 with Pink Floyd, and in 1990 in Berlin when the wall was destroyed, well, actually its cheap!!!!

It has already been announced that he will appear on a US show and already declined to perform a full Wall performance also.

I currently can't find the info again  ???  but it was announced (I should have made a copy!) - I remember well to have read it as I was guessing it would be one of the London shows and was deceived that it would not be Europe.
But there was an "update" published well after the original July breaking news just stating that it would be on a undisclosed US gig - stange my research returned no result.

Regarding the "NO"

David Gilmour Says No To Full Wall Show The New York Post has reported that David Gilmour turned down an offer to play a full Wall show at the new Yankee Stadium. Roger Waters said "David would never do The Wall. He got back to me with a no within 20 minutes. But it's fine. It's OK, I wasn't upset at all" Regular visitors will recall we exclusively reported back in early November 2009 that Roger had been a guest of Yankees part owner Hank Steinbrenner, who had said, "Tonight I had Roger Waters from Pink Floyd as a guest. We

Hope you are right.

Especialy that Nick has already palyed with Roger several times on his DSOTM tour.

And so far, if Dave has accepted a one off appearence on CN during a US show he has not ruled out that he won't do it again after...

And something tells me that Dave likes Paris a lot  ;D

Will go to Pink Floyd if they decide to do some charity.
Maybe they can do a charity thing with more 'old' bands:

Pink Floyd
Dire Straits
Cream
The Who
