from guy:
hey guy, i know this is out of the blue but have you ever met phil collins in person? he did the music for monserrat concert at the royal albert hall in 1997. thanks :D
Yes, of course and I'll see him again in November as I will be in the house band for the "Prince's Trust show" at the RAH.
wow, now, would that be guy only??
-
ok, just saw the reply to another post, stating mark will not be there...
-

He does have a life without Mark you know, they are not joined at the hip ;D
-
Well, it is strange, when you look at the line up that Mark won't be there, but then it might just clash with something else he had on.

It isn't the usual line-up, though. Apart from Clapton and Phil Collins, no Sting, Elton, McCartney, etc. at the moment, from the usual gang, but it does say more to follow. Maybe he is too busy, or needs to complete his recovery.
-
Its also being organised by PCM so it really is a shame he's not there.
-
Mark clearly doesnt have time - didnt we officially say that MK would be spending the next 30 years on a beach somewhere??!! ;D

where is it mentioned that this is organised by pcm? just curious

Guy mentioned a few weeks ago that pretty soon he'd be working on something ..... I guess this is what he meant. Too bad, I was hoping it was MK's new album. :(

Yeah Phil does sing much better than Mark. Maybe that he could even hire him for his next solo tour ;D

The two lovely girls that work at PCM (and also the two lovely girls that gave us our RAH tickets) both have a twitter account and they mention about it.

Will be fun to see Guy again...without MK this time. And EC! ;D

No, it was the other way around; Phil Collins has Dusty wallpaper! ;)

I really hope so, dusty. I can't imagine MK sitting in the audience watching the whole thing, or at home knowing it was all happening without him! :'( Maybe he has something much more important to do tonight? ???
I wonder if we'll have any pictures or more info about yesterday's lunch for the ARPS Sound Fellowship, I hope so! :)

Nothing about Mark, but here's some news about the evening :)

Edit: All these English celebrities. Strange if Mark among all didn't show up. Many of his friends was on the stage :)

I managed to get along to the show last night and it was a really good night. Lots of A listers in the audience, as well as Charles and Camilla. I was right in front of a box containing Jenson Button and Kelly Brook, who look like they quite like each other(!). Music wise, you needed pretty catholic tastes, as the music was so varied, and the sound was not as good as usual for the RAH imo. Alison Moyet has lost tons of weight and was an unrecognisable sylph like figure - until she started singing. Great voice. Jamie Cullum was pretty special. He really is that small! I found myself in awe of Tom Jones' voice - truly brilliant. Midge Ure did a great Vienna with Guy on the keys. Guy played it very well, but it was really the only song where you could clearly make out his contribution, and that was a shame. Clapton was brilliant, but I felt he lost the audience. He played lots of old blues, acoustic and electric, and none of his hits, when this was really an audience that was looking for instantly recognisable songs. Brian May was v good (and v grey) and essentially closed out the show. Was it worth

Many thanks, draad, for your review. It's lovely to have some first-hand information of the event. Glad you enjoyed yourself! :D

I'm confident I could tell the difference, even in the dark.

was it dark when you read this though? you didn't see the "they"
-
Oops. Distracted by the though of Kelly Brook.

It seems there is a really nice diary entry over at Guy's website about the show. Really enjoyed reading it up to the point where he states that Eric Clapton is the greatest guitarist on the planet lol. He's wrong of course, Mark is! Claptons definitely pretty good though ;)
I can't wait to see the show on sky, it's being shown in December.
Vienna by Midge Ure, Mark King and Guy fletcher will be the highlight for me.
-
I hope its available to download after its broadcasted, I would like to watch the show, but no Sky Tv in Spain :(
-
Hi all,
As Londoners my husband and I attended the show and the audience was packed with celebs. We met Jenson Button before the show, my husband knows him v well from F1.
The show itself was nice but the sound was not really that good. But maybe only where we were seated in Stalls?
Guy was easy to recognize due to his red shirt but he was just in the house band, so not much to hear from him really. EC was the highlight of the show IMHO. He played as being in a different league than everybody else! Just awesome! Like wine the older the better! Nice that Guy has the same impression and wrote it in his v nice diary.
Looking forward to see EC next year. Don't need to mention that I've got tickets for all of his nights at the RAH?
Take care,
Martina

Sorry to hear that the sound wasn't that good. But still ....

so, it was on last night, anybody saw it?

I think it was only on Sky 3D last night. It is not on regular Sky until 31st December.

OK guys. I saw the Sky 2D broadcast of this a couple of days ago. Obviously it wasn't the whole show as most of the featured artists were only shown performing one or two songs, apart from Queen (well Brian May and Roger Taylor) who effectively played the final half hour of the broadcast.
Guy Fletcher could clearly be seen in the house band backing Alison Moyet ("Feelin' Good"), Phil Collins ("You Can't Hurry Love" and "My Girl"), Mike and the Mechanics ("Over My Shoulder") and Paloma Faith ("Smoke and Mirrors" and "New York").
Other performers featured were Status Quo ("Rockin' all Over the World"), Jools Holland with Tom Jones ("Burning Hell" and "Glory of Love") and Eric Clapton ("Queen of Spades" and "Crossroads"). As far as I could see these performances did not involve Guy.
During the Queen set, Guy featured on piano during "It's a Hard Life" (incredible vocal performance by Tom Chaplin of Keane) and was quite visible during the "We Will Rock You" finale.
If you are interested, the Queen segment of the concert, which also included "Days of Our Lives" (vocals Roger Taylor), "Lost Horizon" (Brian May instrumental) and "Seven Seas of Rye" (vocals Midge Ure), is on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnWh0PuWlRE
Wishing everyone a safe, successful and happy 2011.

Thanks FenderBender!
You can clearly see that Guy had so much fun on that night!
And I am sure Mark would have had so much fun also doing "We will rock you" at the Albert... :lol

Any torrent site has the show to watch it? I doubt very VERY much that any spanish tv would buy the show to broadcast it, so a torrent of the show would be a good chance to enjoy that...
-
any news on a recording by now??
-
Got it from another site, only xvid but will do until a better source comes along.
Tried to upload to the tracker last night but kept getting "Invalid Filename" error. :(

In that case, try to make the filename short and better not use " ' ". Good luck!

Will try again tonight. :)

Right, offending apostrophe removed and torrent uploaded. :)

Thank you Dusty, you are a star!!!! ;D
This is the "highlights" version, very very cut show, I hope somewhere we can find the 3D version that was the complete show. I read that this version is going to be broadcasted again, does any of you have the channels where its going to be broadcasted and can capture that version?
-
I don't, but if it is broadcast in 2D then somebody will probably upload to the site I got it from.
