anything about this brilliant show can be written here.
first a question, who was the bass player in the house band during MFN??
-
Sorry Pottel.dont know who the bass player was.
I have another question that has bugged me for years!!
What does Phil COllins say when introducing Mark....does he say "he's the best"?

Dusty will know that one (he's a huge Phil Collins' fan)
-
I think he was Pino Palladino, one of the best british bass players, at least one of the best studio bass players, he uses to play in Eric Clapton
-
pino? did he not play in Toto??

I went to that gig, it was awesome. MK was amusing when he mentions having to work the lights with his feet during local hero.

I love the version of Layla with MK and EC. Brilliant solo from MK.
It was one hell of a line-up, and the guitar duel with EC, MK, and McCartney on The End is just great. Overall that night, perhaps with the exception of Macca, MK's performance stands out. Really rocking MFN.

100% agree. This DVD is among my very favourites, and this rocking version of MFN is the best I have ever heard - and I have heard many from 85/86,91/92, and subsequent solo tours. The dream band led by Sir Paul is gorgeous. I am grateful to have this on dvd.
Actually people complain that not many official DVDs were released, but with Alchemy + On the Night + RLRR (to complete DS set with SFA and WW, plus a gorgeous version of SAN) + the itunes release of the wondeful WAM video from 2002 + A Night in London + Montserrat + Live Aid (for a superb sax-ed version of SoS) + Knebworth, the collection, while being far from complete, gives us superb versions (if not the best available) of many major songs.
Sadly missing: RATR and MTS from the BIA tour, WII, STP, and all the recent stuff from RPD and GL (Marbletown, HFB, Coyote, BR, PTTE...). Maybe someday ?

Maybe not official but we have great "soundboard" versions of RATR and MTS on the Sydney 86 and Wembley 85 DVDs.

The Montserrat DVD is lovely to have, but it missed off some pieces (Local Hero) and a great interview with MK! I had, luckily recorded the whole thing on VHS and transferred the missing bits to DVD! :)
Apart from the Knopfler set and Layla, my other favourite is "Same Old Blues". MK was fantastic as was EC. This song sounded so much better live than the EC version on "Behind the Sun" which was pretty weak to me in comparison. :)

Actually, if someone downloads this could they see if it is actually 16:9? The earlier realease was 4:3 letterbox rather than real 16:9.

i just realised i was the one who recorded that Hurlingham DVD in the first place! ;D
Anyhoo - if it helps ive checked the video dimensions within itunes and it states the following - 749 x 448
Hope it helps!

Is there any legal problem to download this DVD (Hurlingam 2009), given the fact that it is available for pay per view on I-concerts ? I am more than willing to pay, but most irrated to have to pay per view, not once for all !
-
I recorded this show off the TV when it was on the Biograpgy Channel here in the UK. I sent a DVD to Val and copies were made and distributed. Im sure there will be a copy floating about meaning you dont have to pay - isnt it on the tracker?

Yes, it is available on Dime - see dusty's link above - and it is also available on the tracker called "A Friendly Night in London" but Herlock is worried it may not be a legal download because it is available on i-Concerts. Using i-Concerts he would have to pay everytime he watched the concert.
I don't know - is it a legal download? :-\
-
I suppose technically if it's available on i-concerts then it is copyright material and downloading from Dime may/i] be breach of copyright. I'm not a lawyer though. :)
-
It may but I think we are one the crossing line as on one hand Dime do not prevent to share a live show as long as it has been recorded from free-broadcast feed (for example DS Nimes 1992) albeit broadcasted by pay tv on selected countries. On the other hand they do fordid sharing material that had a theatrical release even if otherwise it has never been commercialy released.
i-concerts broadcasts are a VOD pay-stream service so which hand does it rely to, pay television or theatrical release?
