Title: Help me rig a vote
Post by: dustyvalentino on January 21, 2011, 11:28:49 AM
My band The Malpaso Gang has been nominated for a local award here in Aberdeen. It's no big deal but it would be good for future promotion etc if we were able to say we are "award winners".

It's a public vote but we are currently in second place. :(

It would be most appreciated if you could take the time to vote, unfortunately you have to become a member of the website first but obviously that is a small price to pay. :)

Here's the link to the vote:

http://www.aberdeen-music.com/forums/fudgenet/63608-best-indie-act-2011-fudge-awards.html

And to keep things slightly on-topic, here's a video of the band, with me playing my Knopfler strat. :)

Hi dusty!   I'm so sorry, I was too late to vote too, due to the fact I don't log on all the time!   :(    Anyway, I really enjoyed the video and especially your fine guitar playing very much!   Best of luck with the award!   :)

It looks like there are 3 bands tied for first now -- including your band 8)

Thanks folks!

Joan, we are in fact only tied with one other band, the final option is a kind of joke selection for people who don't like any of the bands. :)

Looks like a lot of people seem to like tea more than the local music offerings in Aberdeen...

Good luck Dusty! Placed a vote, hope AMIT is not the fav forum for members of the other bands, but then again, i think you are great so no rigging takes place (wink).

OK folks, I've maybe left it too late this year, but we are in the running for an award again.

We won last year by ONE VOTE! And I know a lot of you guys voted. So your support again would be very much appreciated.

You can vote for The Malpaso Gang here:

http://www.aberdeen-music.com/threads/fudge-music-awards-best-of-the-rest-2012.51175/

And to try to sway things, we have been doing some NHB "covers" recently. :)

This one is an original, I wrote it when trying, and failing, to play Setting Me Up. :)

Rusty, just did my part, but you are still behind. Min Diesel and Carson Wells are way ahead. Come on MK forumers, what are you waiting for?
Just can't understand "multiple votes allowed". Can I vote again and again? How is that possible?

Now, now, this is a cunning plan... Anyway Dusty, see how it is going and a couple of days before the end give us a "heads up". In case you need more I will register my wife, my infant girl my dead grandpa, my pet dog and if they are not enough I will even reveal the id of my imaginary friend. Good luck friend.

That sounded great!

Whomever filmed the first clip seemed like they were a bit nervous and trying to hide what they were doing. You don't happen to have PC working security, do you?  ;)

That's only Scottish security style.  ;)
They don't need PC to do their dirty job.  :disbelief
I've experienced them and I didn't like  >:(

I think they were just drunk, although that is pretty rare in Scotland.

Only four votes off the lead folks, thank yoooooooooouuuuu! (*tsh tsh tsh tsh dananana*)

So stupid of me. Multiple votes allowed, probably means that you can vote for more than one of the contestants. So let me see what I can do.

Bravo! I don't know what you are eligible to win, but Bravo.
I thought you won last year, at a similar competition (fudge ?) but the previous years winners beneath the poll, doesn't have your name on. What is the matter. (I am not paying attention, perhaps? ;)
There are also the votes from the gigs to be added. Best of luck with these, as well.

And something else: Maybe you can't polish a doo-doo, but you may put it in a tin can and sell it as collectible work of art. But only if your name is Gilbert or George.

Thanks guys! We won last year, but in a different catergory (Best Indie band, ha!).

People can still vote in person so nothing is guaranteed, but thanks for keeping us in the running!

You will have to put a cammera recording one full show, with soundboard feed, and share it with us...

Easy!
