Title: Walk of life - Multitracks
Post by: Jules on March 16, 2011, 11:18:25 AM
Looks like someone managed to rip the Walk of life multitracks from the Rock Band game...

Thanks, will be fun.

I remember on the old Telegraph Road mailing list there was someone who just kept saying that WOL had a drum machine on it. Over and over again until it became "fact".

A few years later he admitted it was just his "theory" as the drums were, in his opinion, too perfectly in time to be a real person...

Strange key voc and guit tracks seems to be duplicate for 1 & 2

Maybe for stereo?

Funny hearing MK's "woohoos" on their own. There seems to be leakage too, I wonder if that is on the original track?

We were never supposed to hear this stuff though and it feels a bit "wrong" - like reading someone's private diary.

The game needs the tracks in this way, so you can play each part when playing the game, and the game contains the separated tracks, so you could listened them in the game, or if you know how, rip them and listen to them in this way.

 ;D

I'd love to hear it as well (wasn't around when it was first posted)...
Does anyone know a place where to get it?

Dusty, don't want to bother you again, but there is some kind of a problem with the file. I tried 4 times already and there's always an error - file could not be saved because the source file could not be read... Any ideas?

Very cool. I dumped a few of the tracks into Adobe Audition and created my own mix. :lol Raised the level of JI's bass, the snare, and the electric guitar tracks. It's interesting to see 1.) how simple of a song WoL actually is, and 2.) how much better the song sounds without any of the keyboard tracks!

Yeah it is simple. (and not really my favorite)

Maybe you could upload your mix somewhere? Would be interesting to hear...

I uploaded it here if anyone wants to listen to WoL without keys, and with an alternate mix:

It was a lot of fun to create, but unfortunately, the original tracks are of fairly poor quality.  :(
Let me know what you think.

Interesting, hehe :)
Actually it sounds better to me without the keyboard, it's not so much of a pop music now. The change in the snare is not so much noticeable. Imho MK's rhythym part is very good and it is now much more clearer, in the original it was very "drowned" in the overall sound. And also the chord guitar can be heard better now (in the original I wasn't sure it was even there).
The song now lacks just a good solo :)

This is exactly what happened on the Mandela gig radio broadcast, some key buried  (alas only one of the two, and not the right one) and electrifying solos by The Man himself.

I so forgot about that!! Probably the best version of WoL (even better than with P. franklin). I like that raw sound of it.

Sorry to resurrect this topic, but this is the only place in the whole Intertet that I've found this.
I'm trying my own cover of this song and it would be very useful.
The links are broken.
Anyone still has this tracks?
Thank you all
