Hi,
According to my twitter feed, John Macusker said that he done a charity event with Mark and the band last night. It was organised by Mariella Frostrup and I wondered if any of you peeps know anything about it?

Here it is, straight from the news section at guyfletcher.co.uk:
"Last night Mark, myself and a small band comprising John McCusker, Luke Brighty and Danny Thompson played a private fundraising event for a charity set up three years ago by Mark's (and mine) long term friend Mariella Frostrup. The charity called The Gender Rights and Equality Action Trust - GREAT - aims at fostering gender equality and raising awareness and funds to support grass roots gender equality projects in Africa and beyond. The GREAT Initiative works in partnership with Femmes Africa Solidarit

More info on this show in our beloved "No news is good news"-tread, but I suppose we could continue to discuss this show here instead :)

I wonder who the invited guests were. Will we ever hear something about the show from someone who was there? Probably not... Nothing in the news either as far as I can see. Luckily enough Guy gave us something, although it would be nice to see some pictures :)
-
ah cool thanks for the info :)
-
For further info and pictures I suggest visiting gettyimages.com, searching for the keyword "Corinthia" within pictures which have been shot yesterday. And I have to tell the ladies, that (unfortunately) MK's face is not amongst the pictures which seem to be made during the reception only.

Guy says the guitar was auctioned for

That just about covers the appetizers.

As I posted in the other "no news is..." thread, George Clooney and Nick Clegg were there. "Nick who?" I hear you ask!
George who? ;D
-

Ooohhh what a pity that there weren't pictures of Mark! :'(
Whaauww it is great that somebody payed so much money for the guitar, .....well I better say, .... it is great that he/she can afford to pay so much! ;)
With a charity of their friend, the money sure will be used for good projects, that is important!

imagine, 75K for the guitar, 120 in the audience, times 1000pounds, makes 200K

If they want to raise money, it's a pretty bad move. ;)
One stadium : 70'000 people times 60 pounds makes 4.2M.
And he saves his guitar !

yeah, but this was then easy money :-)
imagine the logistics of it all

Easy money indeed. ;)
But only 120 people ... and no way to get in. :disbelief
It's like wasting food when so many people are starving.

A little piece from Twitter about the concert, amazing what you can find if you want to waste hours on Google!

I preffer a series of concerts for charities like the MK and friends 2002 than this private posh things...
But I guess its less work to play 5 songs (that he really played so often that he doesnt need to rehearse anymore) in front of a posh audience that doesnt matter about the real quality of the perfomance that rehearse seriously for several concerts in front of an audience of fans...

I have a simpler explanation : this is not a choice, Mark was just asked to do it and he agreed.
And, at least for the last two ones, Mark's RAH run were also charity gigs, in front of 4 000 fan every night.

Thats something that we dont know, how much offers he had refuse... we only know the ones he takes, and since long ago, the easy ones are winners ;)
