Title: LA 1980 bonus track Lions 1981
Post by: boboDS on June 01, 2011, 10:29:10 PM
Hi, 've been listening to 1980-81 bootlegs lately and came across this: the 1980 LA bootleg has a bonus track Lions from somewhere in 1981. Do we know which bootleg exactly are the Lions from?? It has a quite good sound, so I'd really like to hear the whole show.

Also, I have noticed that JVT has a new (at least to me) bootleg on his site, it's supposed to be a SBD rec from Paris 18th June 1981 (4 songs), does anybody have it yet? Do we know something more about it? I seem to remember there was some kind of a VHS tape of a few seconds (or a minute max) of Lions from Paris, could it be the same source?

Thanks for your replies.

Definately not the 18th. I'll check the rest of the boots I have. :)

Long time no see... :)    (dime around 4-5 years ago?)

That's what it says on his site. I didn't even know there was an SBD from 1981 besides Werchter.

I'm still active on DIME, just don't upload torrents any more (we'll see later...).

Milan 31st of May 1981, that's the Lions bootleg :)

Edit: it says "2nd generation cassette tape" in the text file I used for the comparison. Sounds alot like the bonus track, except that one is a tad better, so I bet it's an excellent audience recording, from the master tape :)

Wonder where I got these CDs...

You mean probably 29th of June Milan, because on 31st May they played in Helsinki.
But still thanks. It's strange that I considered the Italian shows inferior (sound-wise) to some other shows,  but they seem to sound better now.

Now just the Paris SBD 1981 question remains... Does anybody have it? What do we now about it?

Txt file from the original download. I thought it was weird to play in oslo on the 28th and Milan 3 days later. I checked, and it's indeed the June show in Milan :)

I dont have SBD audio files from the Paris show you're asking for, only the DVD and an audience recording.

A SBD recording from the 1980ies must be great. I'm listening right now to Boston and Emerald City audience recordings from 1980, oh boy this is rockin'! What treasurers are resting there on the shelves?

I loved that concerts, when Alan just joined the band and they were playing stuff from the DS and Communique records and introducing all the keyboard parts that made evolve the Dire Straits sound.

A little bit primitive before a second keyboard player joined the band imho.

Check out the intro of Once upon a time of this gig, the first two notes ... ouch ;D

Ever tried to slide into the 12th fret position on a Schecter strat without dot markers on an extremely dark stage?  ;)
