My dream is sudden release, like All the Roadrunning was.
Who knows what Mark have done in his own studio for 6 years exept KtGC and GL... :)

I think that the Montreaux DVD/Blu-ray/whatever theory sounds if not plausible, at least possible. It would be fun too.

Collaboration definitely seems the most likely to me. Somebody who is on tour right now so can't join until the later sessions.

I keep thinking of Clapton, mainly because he only seems to do duet albums these days. But then the folky stuff might not fit. Hmm. Maybe Emmylou again.

If this is a duet, why not with Natalie Merchant?
She is fantastic, what a voice!

Because if its a duet, it will be what Mk wants, not what we want.

I hope that he is doing a solo album AND something further - only a duet album would be a disappointment for me - I think pure MK is best MK! Of course, ATRR is a good record, but I rarely listen to it - it is very clear that MK keeps the best stuff for his own.

I didn't exactly dream of it last night, but I would dream of a double album in the sense of one album with live stuff - maybe MK is trying something new -
or even has a DVD/BluRay in mind - about the production of the album - with some "real" live stuff - and mixing has to be done after filming - and maybe some band members or venues aren't available now and therefore the delay.
I really hope Guy will soon let the cat out of the bag...

I just checked Eric Claptons site, and it says his next tour date is October 6th, so, I don't think Mark will be joining him.

No, I was making the point, that it won't be Clapton, and in my view, I'm not sure Mark would collaborate on record with Eric, they sound great live, but I'm not so sure an album would work. Plus, Mark isn't the guitar hero kind of player anymore, he has moved on into more of a mature song writer, not sure Eric has done that. For me, Mark has more in common with Mike Oldfield :)

My dream is that MK and the band will play a concert in the autumn, which will be filmed and released alongside the new album in the spring!    Oh well, I can only dream  ::)

Ah, no need to be realistic.  These are dreams, after all.   :lol    So, I'd say that in my dream MK is mentoring Brad Paisley and both will do solo albums, but with guest tracks.   And they will appear as guests on each other's next tour.    I didn't bother to check tour dates, because in my dreams anything can happen.

I was thinking about this topic seriously but couldn't help: Anything else but a pure MK solo album would be a disappointment somehow. I indeed had some
kind of "day dream" during lunch break the other day and that was that indeed only one other artist would be worthy to do a duet with MK: Bob Dylan! (huuu huuuu). I faithfully hope that there will be no David Gilmour, no David Knopfler, no Eric Clapton and no J.J. Cale! They only would absorb each other! (well, at least three of them...  ;D)

The only thing I really dream about for years (in terms of MK) would be a release of some complete Dire Straits Blu Ray, London Wembley Arena 1985,
Basel or Nimes 1992. In a nice box set. Chrismas could be the key for the late mixing - what if some great release is planned in autumn, something for US!

ok, I will dream on...!  ::)

The other thing that would make me happy is MK would go totally ballistic and doing two "alternative" albums - or let's say, the new album in a live, "unplugged" release, combined with each other - and those live recordings would take place during autumn.

Or MK has written an Opera, called "That's The Way You Do It", or has written a biography, and has to do some serious book promotion going during autumn...

Come on, Guy, tell us! I need to know!

A Bob Dylan duet album?

MK has been there (or kind of) with Slow train coming and Infidels, and that last was a nice experience with him, when Bob couldnt wait for mixing and changed everything while MK was on tour and released a record that had nothing to do with what he (MK) expected...

Ok Ok, dreaming, I know it was my idea, soooooooooorry  ;D

That said, wouldn't it be great if Gilmour was preparing a Fall tour and need someone ?

Has Gilmour touring plans? I'd love to see him live.

It's already complicated to find out if our own MK has touring plans.
Doc style answer about Gilmour's status : can't say.

He recently played with Waters, didn't he ? Maybe he's working on a PF reunion ?
Whatever Guy says, I think we are much closer to a DS reunion than a PF reunion.

I really fail to see the Gilmour-Knopfler connection. They are two legendary guitar players with a unique tone, similar-sized pot belly and a penchant for plain clothes, but that's about it. There's no obvious musical connection that I can see.  Someone enlighten me?

I agree there's no obvious connection between Gilmour and Knopfler. I was only joking and dreaming in the dream section.  ;D

Ps/ Had a very hard time trying to understand "Life on Mars" tv series, great show, but I needed subtitles  :o
You're gonna be in big trouble if Bob Dylan says something with Manchester accent !  ;)
