You, naughty girls ;D

Guy's launching his diary page : that's very serious ;D
The tour is coming too quickly ! :P :P
I will never be ready ! :disbelief

TO BE, OR NOT TO BE ....a great writer doesn't matter, as long as people LOVE to read what is written! :lol
I am also looking forward to read Guy's diary and watch his beautiful pictures! ;)

I want to see evidence of Guy's professional journalistic qualifications before I read a word.
-
check out Guys diary, he's updated it.

After MK's show there's 30 mins change over 'till BD comes on! With bars serving alcohol no doubt, that's plenty time for idiots to overindulge. I so wish they wouldn't serve alcohol at concerts; even if people don't get drunk they're disturbing everyone going to the toilet. ::)
-
I don't F*** care if he writes like a first class pupil. It is the only way of having first hand news, since I can't attend to any of the concerts. Apart from the AMIT members that is. Oh and the world is famine, by the way.
-
I like how he says he's " looking forward " to seeing the 30min changeover! Can you imagine the well oiled machine those roadies have to be?
So exciting, can't wait to hear the setlist, Bobs too! Oh if only I had a plane ticket and accommodation and more tickets to see the tour!!! ;D
-
Should I attend the MK part completly dry , then go to the bar, and get back fully drunk for BD and do singalong?
Could be a nice evening ;D
-
man, where is the diary entry, he has had well over an hour now....
and why no duet???

"...The show was so much fun and as Richard has pointed out in his notes, it's like a we've just continued on from the last tour, except better."
It is so typical Guy style that this tour is better than the last one, even if the last one was superior and the very best tour of all times and the new tour only had one first show... It is unrecognizable our Mr. Fletcher! Good to have his diary back, it is back on my daily menu already. :D

And when a song playing is no more uptempo then the magic word : on this tour XXXX had such a groove on it.
-
Guy is in a good mood today. He answered
Sorry, I cannot answer any questions relating to the recordings...It'll be a surprise
to a question about if Privateering will sound the same on the album than live. Which made me thinking: The great thing about the Mark's shortened set
is that 73 to 75 minutes will perfectly fit onto a CD! A complete live show as a bonus, packed into the new album, and the three new songs all bonus stuff!
That would be great, wouldn't it? However, I WANT a properly recorded studion version of Privateering because I think it is really a MK classic, I like it so much, must have listened to it 20 times or more...

Now someone is complaining that new songs are boring and almost no guitar. Some could say, ett

Guy already answered to this...unlikely to happen I am afraid :disbelief

I don't know who 'Val' is on Guys forum but his post was pathetic, and I'm glad Guy was clear in NOT agreeing with her/him.

Right on Arabia! But you know what Clint Eastwood says about opinion... ;) Of course when you try to force your opinion down people's throat it is a different matter altogether. But it must be the great misunderstanding many people has with the internet. But just because you can have immediate communication, doesn't mean it is intimate.
Glad you participate in AMIT, hope you remain active long after the end of this tour.
-
val is a longtime member and valued member here at amit. you must understand her actions as defending the artist she has loved and admired for decades, and his surroundings as well, and she felt the need to "protect" them, pls val correct me if i see this in the wrong light.
i too do not think too much weight needs to be given to this "incident" coz of the various possible explanations, but she has every right to express her opinion, and she also changed "ignorant" to "insulting" in a later statement.
-
My guess is that Guy is already regretting posting it in the Diary in the first place ;D. Two completely different personas between MK and BD..just look at how Mark treated Pieta Brown during the GL Tour..with a great deal of respect. I'm sure he had already known her father..but he seemed to go out of his way to help her and Bo out during the tour.

As someone else has said everyone has their own point of view & having met Val & Mr Val on two occasions you could not meet nicer or friendlier people. I just dont think Bob was her cup of tea & the fact that he never acknowledged MK added to the situation - legend or no legend he could have at least mentioned him or maybe he forgot who payed before him or that anyone did at all :o :o

I really didn't find pathetic Val's post. She simply expressed her opinion which, from my side, is condivisible (but it's just an opinion). And it's easy to understand that Guy's answer couldn't be different. Ignorant is a strong word but impolite fits perfectly (at least at this occasion) . Let's try to respect other's opinions (even if we disagree).
edit: no more pulpit ;D
-
i'm sure Arabia is not on a pulpit (what the heck does that mean really??) and that he respects others' opinions. so no need to get this more heated then it needs be.
-
Maarten, I understand your position of moderator but define "pathetic" a comment just because you disagree is not so "respectuful". Anyway it's not my intention to argue with you or arabia, I've just expressed my disappointment at what I thought was a gratuitous insult. That's all :)
-
you get me wrong rudiger. i just think this discussion has gotten enough attention as it is, and my comment was also not in your direction but to the members in general.
EVERYONE has the right for their opinion, in my eyes.
-
you are right. Let's come back to "Nottingham" ;)
-
it is online!!!
am at 20%
and the same guy also recorded the dylan show, and that one sounds real good, so we are in for something!!!
-
Just finished downloading Nottingham. (Bobs set)
Looking forward to listening. ;D
Cheers. BBB
-
love sick is wicked. didn't listen to the rest as i had to go to bed last night, will listen to it and to Mark's set tonight.
thnx to the taper!

Hi arabia! I am the Val in question and it was me you thanked on the MK.com forum for directing you here!
Re my post to Guy! Since the tour began a week ago Guy had been making many remarks on his diary about Bob not making pleasantries (his phrase), not meeting the band, not returning smiles, hellos, etc and that was the reason for my post. As I said to Guy and have said on this forum, manners cost nothing, especially a smile, even if you are a legend like Bob! I regretted calling Bob ignorant and I corrected it to impolite. Anyway, arabia - no hard feelings! :)

Case closed! Amen! :)

Sorry Val, there were so many negative posts flying around it was getting me annoyed. I'll stick to reading and commenting on music related posts now ;D
-
Don't worry, these things happen from time to time! Only the music matters in the end. :)
-
Ok, after this little "problem" between Arabia and my dear, lovely, sweet and especial best friend Val, I think we all can use a BIG GROUP HUG!!
Please come here and let's hug each other!

Hhhmmm that felt good, didn't it?? ;D..........Mark can be proud having such wonderful fans! ;)

Heaven is the place where the tiger sleeps with pigs and the bear hugs the donkey. Well man gave name to all the animals and AMIT is the heaven were all these wonderful things happen. :)
But then again why is he called Winy the pooh? :lol
-
I noticed on Guy's diary that he found Bob lying on a beach. It's apparently a popular place to find old fossils due to coastal erosion! :lol

What was Guy doing on the beach? Is he by any chance an amateur collector of rocks and fossils? Was he following Bob around? These are the real hot questions.
-
yeah, he was taking pictures of old fossils again, bob does not like that...so that is why he was not allowed to join mark tonight...
bad boy guy!

Hey! I'm a Dylan fan and I find this all very offensive....only joking ;D You guys are funny, that picture makes me laugh!
-
Sorry MarkB..found that pic and just couldn't resist ;).

Sorry MarkB..found that pic and just couldn't resist ;).
See the guy in the background dressed in black? He looks like he has a hand over his ear as if a horribly loud noise was bothering him...so I guess that means Bob must be singing in this picture!

I wasn't going to touch this one Mark...but I figured..why not play along...Isn't that the guy that ran Bob's sound board? ;D Just kidding!!
-
lol Very good!

very interesting reply from Guy on a question on him restoring parts of the 2001 diary (which he continues to do)
"Yes, every now and then I will chip away at it. Look out for the Shangri-La INDIAN tour video to come....the first vid I made, and so far unseen."
---> indian footage!!!

it is live!!

It is alive! and walking! Maybe we will see something in 2012, but surely not before August. Thanks Pottel for bringing it to our attention.

The new diaries have become an impressive documentation of the whole process of recording that MK is undertaking nowadays.
He quite often said, that you have to avoid to become like a kid in the sweets shop (given the endless possibilities at BGS).
Apparently he does a lot of tweaking and fiddling to find the perfect sound for the specific song, I assume it must be challenging to detect the point when a song has to be considered as finished. Honestly, I do appreciate the passion and time he puts into recordings, but I'm in the same way fascinated by these "one take & first take" recordings like "Haul Away".
Maybe he should consider to do another EP just in one day - rough and unpolished, let's called "Twisting By The Pool II"....
-
"Haul Away" being done in one take..makes you realize that we are in for a real treat once the album is released. Can't wait! I'm curious about which song Ian had to add some percussion work onto..as Guy says.."This was an example of a recording which took an unexpected turn as time went by and it was decided that the drums needed a different approach.".. maybe a song that they played on tour?..which leaves "Privateering" or "Corned Beef City".
-
I did notice a few changed notes in the singing of Privateering as the tour progressed, but I don't think the drums changed (unless I just didn't notice anything). And speaking of Corned Beef City, was that one played anywhere else except Glasgow? Cuz I haven't seen any other recordings.
-
Corned Beef City was also played in Dublin, Lille and Rotterdam.
-
Thanks much, Stefan.
