The person who did this was Artur Jarowski, who was relatively young and tragically died earlier this year. He was out walking beside a canal in the town in Poland where he lived, when he collapsed and fell into the water. He was extremely active in Bob Dylan World, particularly through the internet and the Dylan-related fan sites, and was extremely well regarded. My own direct dealings with him were quite limited but he was very keen and very productive. He was also active in Leonard Cohen World. His death was a great loss.

I got this set of interviews several years ago and it has proved useful for some of the articles I've written for ISIS magazine. At the end, you will find a list of interviews etc that are not included. There are quite a few other interviews that rea both not included in the pdf and not listed at the end of the pdf. These all relate to someone who is often portrayed in the media as reluctant to be interviewed at all. Once again, this demonstrates that you can't always believe what you read in the press.

Incidentally, there are also several books of interviews with Dylan, not to mention fan-generated booklets. There is even a 5-volume set of Dylan interviews entitled "The Fiddler He Now Upspoke" that has been compiled by John Baldwin.

Perhaps someone should indeed get down to compiling something similar for Mark.

Some years back, my wife and I were in Paris (a short holiday built around a Mark concert, I think, though it might have been a Bob one). We were due to meet one of my French contacts, who happens to run the "Come Writers and Critics" website, which lists books by and about Bob Dylan plus details of Dylan fanzines and lists of regular magazines with Bob on the cover. He had told me earlier that he had bought tickets for Artur to attend another concert in Paris (Katie Melua, I think) but was worried because he hadn't heard from Artur at all and Artur hadn't responded to e-mails. Anyway, my friend left a message at the hotel to delay our meeting and we later learned that he had met up with Artur to hand over the tickets and collect the payment for them. I remember thinking at the time that I'd like to have met him. Artur who seemed to disappear for a while. He had asked me to run off a copy of "Christmas Party With Eddie G", an (official) album compiled by a friend of Dylan and put out on a label set up by Dylan. I did so and e-mailed Artur once I'd done it but he never replied. I probably still have it somehere around.
