Title: Rare Sultans of Swing on Acoustic
Post by: rcalache on December 15, 2011, 09:42:04 AM
Dears,

I received from a long time ago (5~6 years), a very rare mp3 version of Sultans Of Swing where MK is singing while playing on an acoustic guitar alone (no drums, bass or any other instruments). It had the feel as being played for friends or something similar.
My Hard Drive got corrupted, and the song is lost :(.
Does anyone knows this song version, where can I download or Buy it. Because I'm really desperate to find it it was just awesome.

Appreciate you help. Thank you.

Regards

Funny you should ask. Check this out: http://youtu.be/36kKAppMSH0
brought into spotlight by Jackal. Possibly not the one you are looking for.
In this case I guess more expert knopflerologists will get back to you for more. I too am curious.
Welcome to AMIT!

One of the many side effects and drawbacks of fame I suppose....It attracts nutters, gold diggers and so on.

He must have found just a bit too much..umm..'enlightenment' through his Guru (wonder how much money the 'Guru' soaked him for ;)). My advice to him...don't let your 'Guru' convince you to drink the kool-aid.   ;D
I hope that cover of SOS surfaces...would love to hear it.

No. You know that's the thing with forums, it will lead you anywhere...  :lol

Honestly: I have never heard about an acoustic version of Sultans, played by Mark, only the one he mentioned when he talked about discovering his unique strat sound, when he said that he first wrote it on an acoustic but sounded totally different, and in the moment he plugged in the strat he knew he had it.

Some people around here are always joking about this Hanlon guy, maybe he can help.

That pesky Bob Wilson...

Seems like he is infront of a live audience claiming credit for the song that made DS....unbelieveable..

Back on topic - wasnt sultans written using the National????

Yes, right.
Sultans was first composed on the National, in open tuning, mentionned by Mark in itw, and in Oldfield 's book. But I've never heard of any version avalaible.

Then, he changed for the strat, and it became the version we know.

Sometimes its possible to recover information from that hard disks, you only have to find someone capable of... in my computer store they saved me a whole hard disk, and after that it was death forever, but the recovery worked! they put all that data to a new hard disk and I was saved  :)

No, as a matter of fact I wrote it.  :P
I also wrote Imagine, I could be so lucky, like a virgin, Smoke on the water and at least 3000 songs that were hits and 200.000 that didn't chart. :lol
They all stole them from me and send me in exilio in Greece. But now I live a much fuller life as a struggling to make ends meet out of work Greek. 8)
They can have the fame and the money. I only wanted to offer joy to the world.
I have also written 3000 scripts for blockbuster movies.
And last but not least have offered joy to more women than Gene Simmons. And more men than Ciciollina.   :lol
Yes I have done it all! ;D
