Interesting to read that Mike hopes to be promoting MK's new album NEXT year!

Even as he looks forward to his third world tour with former Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler's current, folk-influenced band

Next year means 2013 ... I didn't realize that  :P
Anyway, it would give more time to save money and think bigger.

Or maybe the paper was written in late 2011, so next year is THIS year.

Yeah, I must say I am a little bit disappointed, too. I thought it would be released a little earlier...

The idea comes up again I heard from someone in October, that MK needs so long because of "lack of inspiration"... :-\
This album seems to take some doing... The hope I have is the pure quality of Haul Away and Privateering, that we are in for something really great...

I'd bet the reason for this delay is the ongoing development of a soundtrack. The soundtrack will have a strict completion deadline while the album hasn't. It's a pity as I was so much hoping for a new MK album in 2012.

Nah - there is no way Mr K is going to spend the bulk of 2012 having mixed the new album in the early part of the year twiddling his thumbs! I am sure there is news to come far earlier than 2013 and I think the album will be out earlier than the Autumn. Of course, there may be other bits and bobs going on that we know nothing about! Stay positive everyone!

I like that.... but I would prefer.....
Album release MAY 2012 ( money enough to get an album)
Promos October/November 2012 or early 2013 ( time to save money)
Tour April, May, June, July 2013( time to save money)

Well, the september 2012 release / october-november 2012 promo / spring-summer 2013 tour combo looks like the usual MK schedule, so, I guess that would be what will happen.

My hope was that the album could had been released in early spring 2012 followed by a tour staring at late spring and during summer 2012, but who knows...

There are also rumours about Dylan touring the US with MK too, I know I

As for myself, I stay very positive.
I've refilled my batteries during the Dylan tour. That tour was the best thing to happen at the best moment.
I have enough material to spend some time on.
Next step is to refill the pockets.   :-[

Also I don't think it's the best moment to tell wife and kids there's a tour again and you know I would like to do as many shows as possible.  ::)
Not sure it would work.  :disbelief

Anyway there will be a Dylan show somewhere in 2012. It should be South of France and Spain.
It would be a good idea to try a show in Spain and feel the security style. Could be helpful for next tour's strategy ;)

There are many clues that show something big is cooking : they came back to British Grove very quickly after the tour and again very early after Christmas ...

I thought that was simply because the touring with Dylan took some time from MK

I, too, have a strong feeling that MK will join Dylan on his tour in 2012, maybe in US.   2012 is a very bad year to be in London for anything that is not connected with the Queen's Jubilee or the Olympics.

I was listening to someone on the radio saying that London is fully booked and that prices for hotels are sky-high and are deterring ordinary tourists and concert goers away.  Apparently Andrew Lloyd Webber is closing three of his shows for that very reason.    I think MK would not want to be there this year.   I'm betting on the US with Dylan!

Wow, I didnt think that an Olympic Games could have a so bad effect on a city, looks like its exactly the contrary to what its suppose to happen.

But I guess that would be just during the Queen Jubilee and the Games, how many months could affect to London between both acts?

I think they mean the world tour next year.

Guy said a while ago on his forum that he album will be released BEFORE christmas 2012.

I think album 2012 and tour 2013. The regular Mark schedule.

Why don't they schedule the Olympics and Queen's jubilee around MK's tour?

To be serious, we waited four years for STP and were rewarded with one of his best albums so let's hope for something on similar lines this time around. :)

There is:

This tour has been quietly knocking audiences dead over in Europe while getting scant U.S. attention. Knopfler opens for Dylan, then collaborates on a few songs during Dylan's headlining set, giving both artists a kick. The success over there will bring the whole thing to these shores for the summer.

So an USA tour for MK & BD?

It wouldn't surprise me at all!   I remember someone asking Guy if Mark would be joining Bob in the US this summer and he refused to comment.  Usually he says it's a whole lot of rubbish!   ;)

no there is not, this "news" has been going since early in the EU tour.

Yes, and it keeps going from different sources. So a big chance it's true, don't you think?

I dont care very much unless it includes some european dates for all the countries ignored last tour (Spain, Portugal etc etc)

Just asked Guy in his forum, lets wait his answer.

Well no. The third source read it from the second one, who read it from the 1st one, who heard it from me  ;D. I like to start rumours...

By the way, did you know that Dire Straits ARE reforming? I read that on the internet!

There is only a rumour. There is also a rumour about Tom Petty touring with Bob Dylan this 2012.

I think its pretty obvious MK and BD will be on the road stateside in 2012 - then roll into September, well autumn time for the new MK album to be seriously promoted and released - MK tour - spring/summer 2013...

He explained me why he deleted my post, and I guess he did the same with the other forumer that asked about it.

Bob is Bob, so, I guess that rumours we already heard could have something... And Guy doesnt want us to think thats gonna happen, and made us sad if it doesnt. Looks more complicated that we might think.

I wont be sad, specially if they "dont" tour the US  ;D

Lets see what happens.

Hi Sally,  We would have loved to go to either Gateshead or Birmingham, but unfortunately we have a few things happening at that time, so we opted for the Liverpool gig with John, Mike and John Doyle instead.  We'll try again next time!  Enjoy yourself, anyway!

EDIT:   Just jiggled things around a bit and now we are going to Gateshead next Thursday, 9th Feb as well as Liverpool!     :D     :P

Just back from seeing John, Mike and John Doyle in concert in Liverpool.  They were absolutely sensational!   I was blown away by their amazing musicianship.  It was lovely to meet them all after the concert too!   :)

Sorry, no, there was a lot happening around me and I only had time to thank them for their performance, buy their album and have it signed by all three!  ;D   I mentioned Transatlantic Sessions and they said it was great fun.  :)
