In my experience, as I took lessons myself some years ago, the best thing is having lessons for you alone. Drums is a difficult instrument to learn as you are playing with with four parts of your body and you have to learn to do different things with everyone of them, and you know sometimes the foot and the hands tend to do the same...

You should maybe be looking at your teacher here; he should be booting him out of the class as the boy is clearly holding the others up and being a distraction. Or at the very least he could have a word with the boys parents. I my opinion it's maybe the boy who would benefit from one-on-one tuition, if he does indeed want to play...

Thanks for you replies. I quite like the idea of a small class like that, I think I may get more out of it than a one on one, if the others are the right people, which "Jake" obviously isn't.
I'll have a word with the teacher, maybe he can put me in another group.

Maybe 'Jake' is actually a plant Rollergirl..he gets you so frustrated that all you want to do is bang on the skins ;D. If he was..well kudos to the teacher..if he wasn't..throw a slice or two of pizza out the door..when he runs out to get it..lock the door :lol.
