When Alchemy was released on dvd/blueray I made an interview to Joop de Korte to be published in Spanish City Website as a kind of promotion, but a lot of stuff happened that made me filed that interview.
I considered that it was very interesting so I rescued the interview and its gonna be published in the Spanish City Website in spanish today.
I made a version in english and upload it to an old site of mine, as put the html code here was a nightmare, so here you have the link, I hope you enjoy it, comments are more than welcome, as I think the info he gives is very interesting:

Thanks for that interview, it was really interesting stuff, I learnt a lot about Joop De Korte that I never knew, and it is interesting to see how his life has gone on, I wonder if he bumped into Mark again on Letterman, I'm sure Mark has played on Letterman as a solo artist.

Thanks, jbaent, for that very interesting interview. I didn't realise that Joop de Korte was involved with the band for so long.
btw Did I dream it, or did Joop de Korte also have another name - Tommy Mandel? ???
-
Someone said something like that in Wikipedia, but we know Joop and Tommy are different people :lol
-
Thanks jbaent for the interview!! Very very interesting, read it in one breath. It finally cleared things up with Joop, wonder why DS never did it.
-
Thanks for that. Nice interview.
-
Interesting stuff, thanks for sharing jbaent. Judging from how the questions flow from what he said it looks like you actually got to talk with him and did not just exchange e-mails. Can you shed some light how that happened? Does he still live in the Basque country?
-
Very interesting interview. Thank you very much for your effort, JBaent. So Joop de Korte is the guy who made the famous introduction on the Alchemy concert - I never made clearly out what exactly he was saying though (My guess is "Good night ladies and gentlemen, would you please welcome on stage - DIRE! STRAITS!" ) ?

Link doesn't work (anymore) on my iPad?
Hi Pottel - When I click on to the link it says "Oops page not found", but I pressed the back to AMIT arrow and it came up!

Hi Pottel - When I click on to the link it says "Oops page not found", but I pressed the back to AMIT arrow and it came up!
Or "Joop! Page not found" :P

That's a shame, I'd have liked to read that. Link broken for me sadly.
-
Disappeared for me now too! ::)
No, I still can get it if I press the back arrow! Very strange!
-
Dont worry, as soon as I get home tonight I will upload it again and will provide you a link. I uploaded it to an old account I had from my university years. Maybe the unusual number of visits reminded someone that they should had deleted the account long ago, LOL
ps: Looks like its the university server who is down and I doubt very much its because of me ;D

Now it works...
As I said, looks like it was a server problem. Enjoy it!
-
Really interesting read. Thanks jbaent.
-
Excellent info - really appreciate the interview thanks!
-
many thanks Jbaent.
really enlightening itw
About the T.Mandel /J.De Korte confusion, it was me who re-introduce (in good faith) the wikipedia mistake here on AMIT forum.
I know now that it's not true, with the help of you all here ! :)
However, it's always a mystery to me why J. de Korte is credited in film end credits, and Tommy Mandel is not ???
I think it's fair to say that Mandel's role was a litlle bit more "important" than JDK's one
I must confess that I don't hear clearly JDK's parts, apart this one : the "congas" sound at the beginning of telegraph Road which can't not be hear in Alchemy, but is present in the MFN compilation remix
-
Alchemy is full of Joop de Korte sounds, shakers in "once upon a time..." Tambourines in all of the songs, congas in others... Many subtle stuff.
-
Whaauwww Jbaent, what an interview! Thank you for sharing. ;D

The more backstage info I get about DS and MK, the more confused I get. Must've been quite a hard time for people working under him during the DS days.
Thanks tho for the interview!
