Celebs unite against Syria violence
Unite For Syria campaign goes viral on the Web.

The Unite For Syria campaign, a movement to end violence in that country, has taken off across social networking sites.

Hoping to convince the United Nations to formally condemn Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, the campaign has roped in actors Susan Sarandon, Patrick Stewart, Natalie Portman and Stephen Fry, former frontman of rock band Dire Straits Mark Knopfler and singer Nelly Furtado . . . a little more at link.

Good cause. Mark could have got up from his chair though.

And we had this clip last week or the week before on here already if I remember correctly...  ;)

Same subject, expelled by mistake in the general discussion. A noble cause for sure. I still don't get why they have let this person for so long, to kill his people while they invaded Libya only by hear say and rumors. Three months before the invasion, everybody was shaking hands with Gaddafi. Berlusconni, Papandreou, Sarcosi and everybody else in need of oil. Maybe that is the answer.

Why buy one from Mark for 200 bucks when you can an identical one from Eric Clapton for 500? http://wearyourmusic.org/store/default.aspx?pageType=product&id=0adba849-6e06-4864-8e77-7300d9eaa8bd

Seriously, if I really wanted to support one of the charities, I'd rather give the money away instead of getting an "original" (right) piece of jewelry.

But as far as I can see, there's nothing "Mark" about it? It looks identical to those of the other artists. Is Mark's signature engraved on the bracelets, or has he signed the certificates of authenticity? Or has he just lent his name to the thing?
