Yes correct, all tracks were released as b-sides but never as a single album.

Thank you too for the good words! I'm trying to do all best, but not good as it was possible 3-5 years ago.

Is this old news?
It's just announced by CD Japan

Does anyone has any of those re-releases from Japan and can confirm that the audio quality really worth the expensive price?

I have Love Over Gold SHM-SACD (without CD layer) re-issue. It was directly mastered to DSD from a Japan copy of the master tapes and sounds exellent, more better than original and remasterd CD. But Dire Straits albums on Japan SHM-CD are just clones of the standard Bob Ludwig remasters released worldwide.
If you wish to get any reviews regarding sound quality before to buy any CD or SACD, it's better to visit Steve Hoffman forum http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/index.php

Anyway they are way too expensives to worth the cost...
Maybe the Cal re-issue as it will have the three Comfort and Joy songs...

Ah, SACD - along with DAT - the ultimate in sound quality before most people went down the route of compressed mp3 sound.

Bad times for audiophiles...
I still preffer dvd-audio, because I can play them in my dvd player... No need to buy SACD player.

I think I'm the only one on here with both a DAT and SACD player! The thing with playing on your DVD player is it's a poor player with cheap transports and you maybe won't have the benefit of proper hi-fi amplification/speakers. Also I don't think I've ever bought an mp3 from iTunes in my life - and I'm proud of that! ;D
-
Well, I own a Phillips dvd player which plays also DTS with Home Cinema 5.1 and I can say that the BIA dvd-audio sounds specially great and in 5.1, as its meant to be.

No DVD player can beat a high end CD/SACD player though and IMO music is better listened in stereo. I've listened to the BIA in 5.1 too but stereo is best for me. It wasn't in surround sound in the studio... A matter of taste of course, whatever sounds best to ones own ears is best! :)
CD player like mine (my SACD isn't listed):

Instead of upload it, I used the url option and pasted the link :)

I've got BIA and Shangri-La in SACD and they sound great.
The 5.1 sound is something that isn't exactly made for music, in concerts, the band is in front and not behind....
But I still like listening to these SACD in 5.1
Pink Floyd's Dark side of the moon is also worth !

or roger waters' Amused to death...

Actually I have very expensive Denon SACD/DVD-Audio but do not use it last year - today I prefer to listen to music using a PC with a combination of USB/SPDIF convertor and DAC (Rega). It has good usabillity and provides the exellent quality. Plus a turntable for vinyl LPs, because new records released on vinyl as usual are mastered better than CD. There is not a trouble to rip SACD (digitally, via first generation of 60Gb PlayStation) and to keep it on HDD. You can ever buy a DAC (Mytek Stereo 192) which can work over USB and decode DSD directly. But I prefer to convert DSD to PCM.
The audio format does not matter. Some good mastered CD (for example original BIA from 1985) sounds better than badly mastered DVD or SACD.

Interesting debate over here, useful info ustas, and a great avatar jbaent (terry is the man)!
I too prefer to listen to cd in 2.0, that's the proper way to listen to music.
That japanese LoG album sounds very nice, I didn't know about it, but starting to think about it very seriously. I wonder if the difference is that noticable, but since it is my most favourite album, I will probably get it.
-
because new records released on vinyl as usual are mastered better than CD.
Vinyl mastering technicaly imply downsizing stereo separation, sound compression and reduced dynamic. If the vinyl mastering is better than its CD counterpart it is because someone doesn't make its job properly (and should be immediatley fired).

Referring to CD Japan website it has 3 bonus from CaJ http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=UICY-94831
But there is not any reason for me to buy due to i have all tracks as b-sides on MK and DS CD singles, so I cannot confirm it
-
Mimmo, from Italy, has confirmed that the re-issue ONLY has CAL... So dont waste your money on it.
-
Yes, that is why I was wondering, the tracklist on the site provided by ustas, did not list the extra tracks. Thanks jbaent!

Yes, but Mimmo from Italy bought the SHM-CD and only contains CAL
Maybe it was only scheduled...

Ustas thanks for the extra info. The tracklisting really only shows the Cal tracks and not the 3 tracks mentioned in the text that you so generously provided translated. It also mentions something about a limited edition. If the whole editions is not limited, then there might be another edition with the extra 3 tracks. The three singles containing the 3 tracks are very sought after, and were limited in circulation as it seems, because all of them together can go up to 200 Euros!
Paying for a confirmed release 40$ (I include P&P) is not that bad, then.
