It looks wonderful, any details about this beauty? my guess is that it appears in Yon Two Crows
-
Cool... he's loving his custom colous and P90s right now.
-
It really looks like a painting

"MK invents new way to play electric guitar."

What a beauty! (the guitar that is...)
My guess is also that this guitar is used on Yon Two Crows, which makes it possible to hear that song live (new guitar endorsements lead always to at least one song in the set ;D )

Thank you for the big photo ustas ! I like the colours, his white trousers match perfectly with the white door and baseboards. I don`t like the way he holds the guitar, it`s too staged imo, but the photographer may want to have more parallel lines, the guitar shouldn`t cross the doorframe I think. Ok, I better stop now, I`m an ambitous hobby-photographer and could write a lot more about the photo ;-) . What I like too is the posture of his feet, it`s like a little boy ;D , very sweet ;D

I like that colour...
My guess is that guitar is only for the picture, as the old vintage guitar (Hoffner???) he used for the Kill to get crimson promotion pics...
Guy mentioned that pics sessions and he talked about an awful lot of guitars used in that sessions, so I expect we will see more when the whole sessions is revealed.
-
Maybe he likes it so much he will decide to adopt it to old tunes too...
-
It looks like a new Pensa MKD model, Frost Blue, with Mark's favorite "C" Shape neck profile (the similar neck is used for MK Sig Strat)
Perhaps now Mark prefers to buy guitars with Frost Blue color (incluging his latest Gibson '57 Les Paul reissue)

Oh, the Gibson... I was wondering where I saw this colour before... the Gibson he used during the Dylan Fall 2011 Tour...
Very nice one.
Maybe I will ask Guy if that guitar was used in any of the songs...

The basic price is 5,600 USD and I do not think that Mark got it for this picture only :)

How much do you think most of MK guitars cost, guitars that he hardly use them on records or live?
-
it depends on guitars. Some new, some vintage. The Mark's 'fleet" includes expensive guitars (like original Gibsons ES335 or 400CES) and cheap models at once.

The MK2 (from 1996) is hardly used only. Mark does not use his old Pensa-Suhr MK (3: Flamed, Koa, Trans Red) and Pensa (from 1993), he told (in some interview) that it's hard for him now to play on guitars with thin neck or like that.
Strat style MK80 also is not used because Mark loves his Fender Sig Strat.
-
On tour, Mark plays on '58 and '59 Les Paul, '54 Strat and '52 Telecaster, which are all really expensive guitars, much more then all Pensa.
-
I heard somewhere his les pauls(58-59) are really really expensive guitars(300.000-400.000 dolars) because these are very rare guitars. Same for his dianosour strat and some other gibsons. And he has a couple nice ones too of course :)

Q:Hi Doc. What a lovely Pensa Blue is playing MK in this picture. Was that guitar used for the Privateering recordings? In which song if you remember? Thanks!!!
A:There will be info on that when the album is released

Bluebird maybe... ;D

He very often crosses his feet that way. If you look at enough videos of his interviews, you will see he sort of curls into himself. Everyone's talking about that gorgeous guitar, and we're talking about his feet! :). I think it's cute, too, Mona. :-*
Here's a video which we've all seen before.....painful to watch. He looks so uncomfortable.

hi joannzimm, thanks for the link. Yes, same feet-position ;) , and he doesn`t seem to be very confident, although he really could....really cute ;D
ok, now the guys can talk about the guitars again ;D ....

I'm sure Mark gets them for free. Imagine what Rudy would have to pay in advertisement costs to get the same exposure he gets through Mark alone.

Digging out this older thread, sorry, but
Guy answered yesterday, that on Yon Two Crows the '58 Les Paul was used, whereas I was pretty sure that it could have been the new Pensa.
At August 3rd, our Julio from Spain asked about the blue Pensa, and Guy answered: There will be info on that when the album is released...
So of course I knew that it would NOT happen the very same second as I read that reply from Guy, as usual - but I would really like to know which guitars are used on which songs.
Are there enough "gear heads" and guitar junkies at AMIT that we might find out ourselves which songs have which guitar on it?
Maybe in a new thread, "Which guitars on Privateering"?? I have no idea apart from that it is the Strat on Redbud Tree, but could not tell you which one... ::)

Julio from Spain, that name rings the bells for me...
;D ;D ;D
LE, patiente, Guy is very busy rehearsing a whole lot of surprises for our beloved friends of North America.

This might be of interest to those of you on this site that are really into guitars. There is a wonderful guitar shop called Dave's Guitar Shop in LaCrosse, WI (just down the road a few miles from my home) with the link at www.davesguitar.com.
If you go to Dave's site, click on the link that is for Dave's personal collection. He has been collecting guitars for many years and this is quite an interesting collection. Enjoy!

I think Pensa is featured on "Dream of the drowned submariner". This sound reminds me of Railroad Worksong lead guitar sound which was Pensa back then. I'm really curious about guitar/amp list on this new album too.
