Around 90 minutes like expected because otherwise 2 vinyls won't be enough!

basically still no info on those 3 extra tracks and the donwloadable concert...

and yes..it seems you need to buy 2 editions to have everything.....

I think so, the boxset has a 3 tracks extra and the deluxe the 7 songs live  ::)

They are sneaky, the record company people.

Last time the "Wonderful Box of Plastic" came at an unreasonable cost and the Deluxe just topped the Standard by "pennies". My guess is that fewer were sold worldwide than expected.

Now they bring a really great box set at a reasonable price, but - die-hard fans take heed! To have the whole lot of songs you'll have to buy the Deluxe, which is now a lot more expensive than the last one they called Deluxe.

And I can almost place a hefty bet on that the Japanese super-something CD will have a fourth bonus song. Something that will almost drive the die-hard fan to insanity. Again...

Is there anyone in this f....g world who really knows it? It seems that every site is giving different info  :disbelief  :disbelief  :disbelief  :disbelief

Wouldn't the right strategy be, by the super box, then as soon as the physical, real (normal) deluxe album hits the shops compare, and if necessary buy? ( same goes eventually for the Japanese super thing)
Also mk.com announced they will be the only ones carrying all formats on te US market! Strange right?

<dylanmode> Take heed, take heed of the western wind </dylanmode>  ;)

Joking aside, I don't like this strategy, too. And I certainly won't buy x versions of this album. I already pre-ordered the box at amazon. It's hard to imagine that MK is satisfied with this kind distribution strategy, or should I say....rip-off?

If I'm right :
total time : 90'02
CD 1 : 45'13
CD 2 : 44'49

An average time of 4'30 per song.
Redbud tree is the shortest : 3'19
Privateering is the longest : 6'19

I would have liked some longer songs with extended solos !

Really the only thing that I would like to have from the Super Box Set is the disc with the 3 extra songs - most of the rest I already have or don't want eg vinyl discs, "A Life in Songs", and the print.

We have no idea what the downloadable concert is - if it was a concert of our choice, particularly from the next tour, that would be lovely, but until we know more about that, I am undecided and may just buy the 2 CD and use the money saved for an extra seat at a concert.  The box set does look beautiful, though, I have to admit!  :)

I ordered the super deluxe edition at mk.com and the deluxe edition at amazon.fr
So the total amount is the price of the super deluxe edition at amazon.fr !

What's up with all this talk about track lengths? I've seen it mentioned several times on Guy Fletcher's forum too. Did people really we would get a double CD with two-minute songs?
Title: Re: Details of editions and tracks length

Having thought about it, these are the track lengths for the vinyl edition, and songs have been known to be edited so they can fit the whole album onto the record. So we may yet find that some of the tracks are longer than this list shows. Just a theory  ;). Not that I'm that bothered about track lengths - a song should be as long as is natural for that song. Whether it's two minutes or a fifteen minute epic, one can be just as effective as the other in my opinion.

Yes - the beginning of 5:15am on the Shangri-La LP is missing; it cuts in shortly before the vocal, and from memory I believe part of Punish the Monkey is missing on the Kill to Get Crimson LP.

Fantastically informative post, a lot of information I wanted is here.

I'm very strapped for cash at the moment, but I do plan on getting the super deluxe edition when I can afford it. And a new record player to appreciate the vinyls!

Thanks again,

This sucks  :disbelief... why didn't they just put these 3 bonus tracks on the deluxe edition disc 3 and on the box version CD3 also the live tracks. This kind of marketing strategy is what kills the industry too if you ask me. I go for the regular CD and hope I am able to grab the 3 bonus tracks in flac format somewhere from the internet. I really could care less if that upsets Mark or Guy I have purchased the whole DS & MK discography and visited many concerts. It certainly is not me who puts them out of business.

Anyway, did you all notice Follow The Ribbon is more then 8 minutes? This makes me curious. Must be a good song, else you don't stretch it so far to keep it interesting.

Totally agree with you Guitarman, this does well and truly "suck."  Best thing to do would be for one of us to agree to share the bonus tracks with those regulars on here who want it!  Of course I would never condone this and was only joking. ;) ;)

Interesting that the only lengthy track is the bonus one...  Looks like Yon Two Crows won't transform into something brilliant after all.  Indeed, none of them will - until they are played live perhaps?  Thoroughly disappointed at the track lengths due to the amount of harmonica on them.

If this album ( from the clips anyway) has so much harmonica I expected some lengthy tracks for MK to play guitar on in reply.  This must mean harmonica only on lots of songs and no guitar!  If this was labelled a Kim Wilson album his fans wouldn't be surprised! :(

Yes, but remember OES? I believe it was a bit over 60 minutes on a single disc. So the 45 minutes rule, applies only for audiophile editions.

Ordering from mk.com is a little cheaper than from amazon.de, but with a good diference, amazon.de will ship on august 30th or 31st, and mk.com will ship on september 4th...

If they ship at all. I recall lot of problems delivering the GL boxes... I dont trust them on this.

That's right (30,29) but now I get 2 codes for buying tickets  ;D
With bol.com you only can get more codes if you order all things separately, I phoned them about that.

So one order with box + deluxe = 1 code

One order with box + one order with deluxe = 2 codes

So I bet on 2 horses now  ;D  ;D  ;D

But what a difference: France Deluxe is 19,99, Netherlands 29,99!!  :disbelief

If all goes well the box will be in my hands on the 31st! The deluxe can come later, I don't mind as the only difference it the live-versions, which I also have from different fanrecordings  :P

I read this at the official site

i emailed store and complained that the box set doesn't include the 5 song bonus disc. that is absolutely ludicrous that it does not. they also said not sure of what live show it is, but one from last tour. not ever sure if that means the one with dylan or the GL tour.

If its from the GL tour... I hope its one not from the Simfy collection, if it is, it would be useless for many of us...

I hope they mean the Dylan tour, because we dont have any of those in soundboard...

Can someone help me with the 'Code-stuff'?
I read about it somewhere here, but don't totally understand it.. I ordered my super deluxe version via Bol.com, so that's one code for me.
But if I order the 3disc special edition via MK.com, do I then get another code from them, because I read something about the difference in coutries for the codes?
And I want both of the deluxe boxes to get all of the songs, and if I can get 2 code's that would be superb!

Hi Klaas,

If you order the deluxe at bol.com you also get another code. I phoned them for that. It's 2 separate orders, so 2 separate codes.
If you would have ordered the whole set in one order then you only get one code  :disbelief Strange but that's what they told me on the phone.

When you order the deluxe at mk.com you also get a code. But make sure you got the right newsletter where things were explained about the code. I got the wrong one and it turned out to be that I didn't enter my countrycode when signing in to the newsletters (years ago). If you didn't get the newsletter with the info about the codes for priority seating then send a mail to mk.com, they will change your info, so you will get the right one next time.

I hope there will be another restriction in buying tickets. I don't see the advantage for early buying tickets for (let's say) the HMH in The Netherlands. I have ordered my deluxe version just to obtain a code from bol.com

But I really hope I can buy prior tickets for the RAH in London.

HMH was early entry, not too bad in my opinion, I managed to have my iPhone signed by MK because I didn't have to queue all the time.  :D  :D

And I said it earlier, I suppose (see newssection at mk.com) that we will have a presale again.

If it's a recording from the GL tour I must have been sleeping when they played corned beef city, privateering, haul away! :lol

It's probably on the CD when and where it was recorded. Look at the live additions in the past, it's always explained when/where/what/how etc. :)
