Title: New livery MarkKnopfler.com website just gone online
Post by: vanman on August 27, 2012, 07:55:53 PM
Hi everyone!, I'm a brand new memeber here, although I've been lurking in the background for some time  :), I'm a very long-time fan of MK's music, so I hope to make all your acquaintances. Just been taking a look around on the new site for the new album release, it's just gone online this afternoon. People don't always like change, but I have to say I like the new image in keeping with Privateering . . that old GL red was very striking, but it always put a kind of a hurt on my eyes! Just listening to my favourite MK album to date, 'ragpickers', as I type this. And I'm really looking forward to hearing the new album in full . . . in just a few more days!

Welcome on board!

I was like you with the GL background on the site.  Striking and sore on the eyes, yes.  Couldn't stay on it for very long but this one's nice.  Now, if only I could log in... ::)

Thanks dmg . . . good to 'meet' you!

I am getting a really good feeling about the new album . . . just listened to the beautiful Seattle, via a link from a post elsewhere on this site . . . top stuff! And Redbud Tree and the title track are right on the button too, for my taste. Can't remember the last time I so eagerly awaited a new album release . . .it takes me right back!

I thought I couldn't log in either, because the red rectangle just went blank, but then I clicked on to "store" and it said "Welcome back Val" - very odd!

Anyway, welcome to AMIT vanman - is it a white one!   ;D

I've just managed it.  Funny thing is when you go to the sale for tickets for the Privateering solo tour the pictures of the actual tickets have 2011 BD/MK logo on them! :disbelief

Hi there by the way!  :D Welcome here!

Oh, in the meantime, I logged in, seemed to take some time!  ;)

Thanks superval99! . . . ha!, until I saw the pale blue one on the cover art of this new CD I would have said "is there any other colour!!!" :lol

Thanks LE too! . . . I know I'm going to like it here!

I have listened to "Seattle" about six times now and I just can't get enough of it!  What a really beautiful song!     :P

The new site over there looks good with the Privateering cover work.

I listened to Seattle enraptured--several times myself! And I'll go back for more. Ruth Moody is perfect with Mark, it took me by surprise how lush her voice with his sounds...such a beautiful, beautiful song.

Well, I am listening to Seattle now for the EIGHTH time!!  :lol :lol :lol

Love it. Even the whammy bar thing is not disturbing but fits perfectly well to this song. But as I said: The guitar part - just imagine it as long as on "Our Shangri-La" live from RLRR... phantastic mood...

SEEEE-JATTLE....

Oh yes!, so hard to choose, but certainly one of my absolute favourite tunes on RLRR.

I have Seattle on constant repeat . . . heaven! . . . and to think there are another 17 tracks to hear yet!  What's not to like!!!

Here the same.

I came to the conclusion that "Seattle" is the better "Our Shangri-La" for me... The latter is a great tune, too, but his singing was always a little... strained, while on this new one he is really nailing it..

What is the very first low thin sound? Organ?

I was a little disappointed with Seattle.  Very nice song but it has the potential to be so much better.  Our Shangri-La is a more complete song;  it sounds more developed with lyrics nicely interwoven with a nice instrumental passage.  Seattle, lovely though it is, just sounds underdeveloped to me.  As I said though as it stands a very nice song and if played live it may be developed upon.

Sorry didn't realize, that there is this song already discussed.

I like the relaxed atmosphere of "Seattle".

Go to mk.com. It's all new over there:

www.markknopfler.com

On the very top, on the right of the "newsletter", you will see an "audio player". Click on it and you will see 3 tracks: Privateering, Seattle and Redbud Tree. Enjoy!

I listen Seattle now, very beatiful song but the guitar part is not satisfied me. I think that in a superb ballad like it the guitar is a MUST.

Sure, the link is in internet explorer cache:

:)

Kind of like this song, it perfectly fits the dull, grey, too-much-concrete-no-architecture city I study (but where I DO NOT live). ;)

I mean like STP and with EH.
Ruth only sings the chorus together with MK

But would love to hear that, but probably not on this album

Yes, I can see what you mean, the verse lyrics would lend themselves to being sung first by one and then the other . . it could work well as a duet, I think so too. It's a very poignant love song.

Question about the mk.com "ticket" page:

You can choose obviously between "Select your seating" and "Arena A-F, row 1-21"  ?? What does that mean? Do you really think we are able to choose a seat by plan?

I noticed that yesterday and clicked on it but there was no other option!  I think it's maybe just there so we can check on the venue web site seating plan to see the general area our seats will be in. :-\

I asked them and got mail within 10 minutes!!!  :o :o

I guess it is no secret and I might be allowed to post it here:

Thanks for getting in touch. You won't be able to select your exact seats tomorrow, the seats will be assigned on a first come first served basis and we will send the exact seating locations out shortly after the presale ends.

So that is clear!

Can someone please describe the new way of purchasing?!!

So that one can be prepared for tomorrow without surprises?

Make sure you have your shipping address filled in correctly.

Use the "Choose" option to find the seats: It's under OUR PRICE 1 BAZILLON EURO. There are two options (or more), f.e. Select Your Seating and Arena A-F and so on  -when you see "ADD TO CART", you are on the right way. Add your tix to cart. Then Check out.

Make sure you have your credit card at hand. I had to fill in all the details DURING the order process. (I used copy & paste for the 16 numbers, the rest of it I know by heart in the meantime. It is NOT working by simulate a buy and then delete it, in that case, you have to put in the Credit Card info again. Believe me, I tried...
For the shipping, you can choose "Select the saved address".

You will be asked to confirm your name again to make sure the tickets are safe and booked on your name for fetching them at the venue. Which is new. Your name is put into the form already and you just have to confirm. Then click Enter and off you go!

You can go through the complete prozess by choosing one of the available gigs - until the very last step (Order!). You can delete everything and get some safety, so it will run
smooth tomorrow!

 ;)

Yeah, I've used every presale from MK.com since they started it but I wanted to know the key differences. Sorry if I was a bit unclear!
