Which song of the new album you want to be played live?
MK normal plays about 4 songs of his new album live.
What would be your favorites from his new album?
Here are mine i would love to hear live. The whole album is good but if i had to choose than i would go for:
Privateering---Miss You Blues---Yon Two Crows---Kingdom of Gold 8)
-
If there would be an option to choose it would be: Go, love, Dream of the drowned submariner, Blood and water and Occupation blues. :)
-
all minus radio city.

Very good choice you made here, I'm with you on these. Four great songs with a lot of beautyful MK guitar sound " . Go,Love " best track on the first disc and " Submariner " best song at the second disc if you ask me. :)
And, " Corned Beef City " would be a fresh opener I think ;)
-
Honestly, at the moment there's only one track that I really would love to hear played live: Today Is Okay. One of the outstanding tracks on the album for me.

Corned Beef
Bluebird
Submariner
That'll do for me thanks.

If Seattle, Dream of The Drowned Submariner, Yon Two Crows and Haul Away is played, I'm happy. If Chris Botti joins in on the London shows to play on Radio City I would be happy too :)

I agree with you LE,
but there are others i'd like to hear : Bluebird, Blood and Water, Dream of the drowned submariner, Gator Blood, I used to could.
Coincidently, these songs are on the CD2, from #4 to #9, the best sequence of the album !

Hi,
It's still my little dream to hear " Are We In Trouble Now ". The outro solo is one of the best made by Mark ever. The outro of " Submariner " makes me think very much about that masterpiece from the GH record.
About the Straits songs, I must say that I only would miss two songs next year if he quit them.
It's " Sultans " and " Brothers In Arms "
These two songs and then solo stuff at the rest. That's could be a perfect concert for me 8)

Agree with Are we in Trouble Now, agree with Submariner, don't agree with SOS and BIA.
If he would skip them and replace them for some new songs or rarely played songs it's fine by me.

Hope to hear Follow the Ribbon as last song. Perfect ending I think.
-
Would love to hear that too Jeroen, but did he ever play bonussongs?

+1 although on the live versions I heard so far the solo is not as good as the studio one.
AWITN is in my top 3 of MK favourite song (other ones being Silvertown and HFB) and Top 5 including the DS era.
I dream to hear one day the raw studio version without fade out.

The long highway
Eastbound Train ;D

So many requests for Long Highway. Everyone's against me! :'(

Long Highway is one of the best songs he has written in his solo career you should know!!! ;)

Just returned from a short break in our holiday home in Cornwall.
How spooky or what but on Monday (Day of Release) we (Mrs Knopflerfan and I) both walked into an 'independant' record shop in Bude, Cornwall to purchase a '2 disc' edition because we couldn't wait until our return today to listen to the album, but anyway we literally walked in the door and 'Redbud tree' was playing on the store sound system!! I got talking to the owner and he too was an MK fan (Who isn't??)
So back to the thread after endlessly listening to the wonderful fresh feel album I will go for 'Corned Beef City' as an opener along with 'Redbud tree' with a longer 'MK Strat' solo. We both feel 'Dream of the Drowned submariner' should be the closing number as it like PTTE is very moving.... I am wondering if again Like Piper is there any link to MK's distant family there??

Gravy train, early on the tour in 96
Can't remember any others.dallas rg is not really a b-side...

Nada already performed as Dire Straits
Dublin 1991 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2FWqZTwmRQ)

Nice! Thank you!
But what the heck has this horrible sax solo to do with this song? I like the 1996 live versions much more...
How happy have these people at Dublin been. I remember these shows took place BEFORE release date of OES, right? Mark seemed to give a damn about what's on the album and what's not. The set list of those first nights were really awesome...

I love this sax part. It was then one of DS trademark.
I was then in UK but missed them as I was leaving just a few days before they came. And I had not enough money to pay me the travel to Dublin to go to see them (http://www.apparelyzed.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/head_brick_wall-1.gif)
To add worst to bad I finally caught them in 92 THE day PONO was dropped off the setlist (http://www.footballforums.net/forums/images/smilies/suicide.gif)

Great emoticons,
Fienec, ds1984! I am still happy that I was able to hear PONO in Bremen in 1991...
LE
-
Who/What is Fienec ?
-
I remember my concert in Glasgow 1991 only a few days after the OES album was released and hearing PONO, Love You Too Much and TOL! It was actually PONO that impressed me the most at the time. Listening to the bootleg of the show it is a very good version but the guitar really sang when heard live like nothing else I'd heard before.

Yes, I know the taper (if you mean the 13th of September show) which was the one I attended. It was recorded on a Sony WM-D6C and I did the transfer onto CD and circulated it with a little help of Jeroen at OEB!

So you still have the master? Maybe wanna send it to holland for some "enlight treatment"?

guy's recent reply concerning the up and coming setlist:
On the contrary, we actually sat round my riser and built the setlist for the upcoming tour and there was input from many quarters. Really looking forward to playing soon.
