Wooow, that album sound is back!! Which instrument is that?? 8 sec, 18 sec, 43 sec... Keyboard? Pedal Steel? I don't know, but i've never heard that live in HFB before i think...
Edit: It was there before, but not so loud...
-
I'm surprised that Mark and Bob haven't been playing together at the start of Bob's sets like last fall. I know that didn't start at the very beginning of the tour last time but once it occurred it happened every night. I have several recordings of them together from last year and was hopping the song list would grow this time around.

that's zero DS songs
lovin' it

Not everyone wants to write in public where they are going. We have to respect that. I don't care writing it down, but people may have their own reasons not to

what if 2013 shows will be 2hrs of only MK music, no DS songs, and leading to a DVD release
could be an idea
I can't imagine a show without some of the DS songs. Personally, I still want TR, BiA and R&J in the setlist. SOS I could live without ( the short version that is, would love to hear the 10+min. version now that Jim cox is at it again) ;)

I tend to agree but we have heard so many versions of those songs that if they should be replaced by
songs never heard before (So Far from the Clyde for example) I would like the second option
True, many of you probably heard those DS songs enough by now. I however, never heard the long sultans version live, since I've only been to three MK shows and I'm far too young to have seen DS live ;-).

woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap

For some reason, live versions seem to be far better than the studio cuts, with a few exceptions... a very few.
The above song sounds (even with poor sound) better than the studio one.
-
because MK and his band are full-blooded live musicians. the stage is their life.
there a lots of other bands and artists, that need the studio-technique to sound "good", but live there are weak.

So 80% of the show goers, who are not get-a-lifers, would never go to a MK gig again...

A review that some here will like but o read to the end ..
http://bc.ctvnews.ca/no-direction-home-for-bob-dylan-in-vancouver-1.994621
The reviewer raises some interesting questions, especially about the "right" of perfomrers to present what they want to present as opposed to what the audience expect to hear.
I found the readers' comments interesting, too, but most would go down less well in this forum, I would think.
In terms of song choices, I guess most Dylan fans would have been delighted if Dylan had played a bunch of new songs. So Mark didn't play any DS songs. Maybe not being limited by audience expectations is something that he has gained from touring with Bob.
-
I guess most of the people here are able to cope with a good Dylan review! :)

i read only one "negative" mk comment in the comments.
liked the review.

Nice review. I think there are a lot of MKs peers who would love to be able to go out and play a hit free set. He has done very well IMO.

WHAT IT IS - VANCOUVER 2012:-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Frr8DL3w-6E&feature=plcp
-
Long interlude. Mark not yet warmed up though! :-[
-
Yeah a little rugged and bumby. The band is good as always though. That's a quality, too. I like these high pitched notes in the interlude, seems like a new
approach to me. Would be nice to hear it in a properly played way! ;D

I liked that MK did Miss You Blues at this show.
This was first of my 3 Northwest shows.
I think the best of the 3 too, but maybe just becoz it was my first of the tour
and the excitement was there.
-
Anyone read this review before? I was quite curious why there was no encore in this show until I read this: http://www.straight.com/article-810426/vancouver/mark-knopfler-and-his-band-outshine-bob-dylan-rogers-arena-vancouver
-
Not sure if some "clapping idiots" are responsible for mark skipping an enore. Maybe there was a curfew or something..
Also about Privateering comparing with "Gospel Plow" just as it was just the most natural thing seems a little bit adventurous to me. But a nice review over all. Nice to read from a show guest who seems to appreciate both artist the same.

The first 2 concerts from this tour were around 80 minutes, all concerts after that were between 70-75 minutes. The recording of this concert lasts 74m2s, which means the concert had the usual 'play time' and therefore there simply wasn't any time left for an encore. In regina (6/10) Mark ended the concert also with Marbletown.
Seems like wishfull thinking from that reviewer to me. (great review by the way)
@silentguy: You mentioned Miss You Blues being played during this concert. It's not on this recording though. Were you mistaken it with Seattle the day after where Miss You Blues was played indeed ?
-
Allen,
Tanks for the link to this great review. Thoroughly enjoyable to read.

Yes I mixed up the Seattle and Vancouver shows. Miss You Blues was played in Seattle.
