There is a documentary on Squeeze on BBC4 television tonight at 9.00 pm .
Mrs twm says that, when the programme was previewed on one of the TV breakfast shows this very morning, it was said that Mark will make a contribution - probably brief - but, again, folk on AMIT may wish to make sure they record the programme just in case.
I don't know if this has been mentioned anywhere else but Mark is certainly listed in the BBC website's preview when you press the "SHOW MORE" button:

The first Dire Straits concert ever, billed as Dire Straits (the first one in Deptford Farrer House was as Cafe Racers) was at the Albany Theatre with Squeeze, and it looks like both bands rehearsed at that time at the Woodwharf Studios in Greenwich (a not long walk from the Farrer House, that I did by myself two or three years ago) so probably both bands were friends...
We also know that Guy played in some records of their members, and some Squeeze members sung in STP cd...
If it can be recorded it will be very nice to watch it...
Is there any place to watch / download that shows from non UK viewers?
-
both bands also recorded in the same studio (but not at the same time) :

Mark made three very brief contributions - all towards the start of the prgramme, as might be expected.
-
Any youtube links?

Brief - being the word!! Not worth chasing this on you tube or the like... Wait until Tuesday for the REAL documentary!!! ::)
-
I suggested MK's contribution would be brief and it was. Here's the BBC i-Player link:-

I have no idea if this will work for everybody but maybe it's worth a try. The again, maybe not.
It must be part of a longer interview, so maybe the DS/MK sleuths out there should start a-hunting.

Nope, not possible for non-uk
-
Sorry about that. Where we lived before, we got TV by satellite and I had worked out a system for turning the recordings on our digibox into DVDs (nice clear and sharp ones, too) but, unfortunately, since we moved house and changed to cable, I haven't work out how I can do that.

Didn't know that - thanks!
I love the song Cool For Cats by Squeeze. Such a cool song. 8)

I can't find it now, but an AMITer had sent an extensive piece of interview he did with Joop, and he mentions it there. Unfortunately I can't remember who was the AMITer. (sorry).
Squeeze was a fine group, if you can get a nice compilation with all their hits, you will enjoy. I particularly like these two:
Tempted
Take me I'm yours
They are still active and on tour, while these two links have mentions for their connection with DS.

Bravo again , jbaent! If you have the link at hand attach it so that other members can see it!

Interesting, taped this last night without knowing MK would be on it. Squeeze are a great band.

Just been listening to Cool for Cats and Up the Junction - great stuff! They're coming to the O2 Academy, Glasgow in December!

Here it is:

My favourite Squeeze song is Up the junction. And of course, the job done by Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford on Silvertown Blues enhanced the song for sure.
-
Cannot watch it in my bloody country.....eff!
-
Pottel, youtube doesn't work either? Maybe I can sendspace it to you. Let me know. Actually MK says what dmg said earlier on this thread, no more than 30 sec both sentences.
All he said was a few sentences! Not worth it at all. He said something along the lines of Squeeze lyrics being about London, primarily south London, then in his second clip he said they were a cut above the punk bands playing at the time.

Great poster. I happen to think that Up the Junction is one of the best songs ever written.

EDIT: didn't notice it was here already.
Any DS things in it?
-
No,not really, MK has 3 snippet interview bits, no more than 30 sec, total, about Squeeze.
-
Anyone out there ever tried to contact Squeeze die hard fans to see if there exists a recording of DS supporting act? It's one of my wildest dreams.
