It can't be a 2001 MK Strat, because the model was introduced in 2003.
The color of this one looks like a Dakota Red one.

It looks real. The headstock is authentic. Probably there is a mistake regarding the stated year of production. You are right that the MK Strat was introduced in 2003. There have been built about 300 exemplares in dakota red before Mark complained about the colouring. Since then the colour is hot rod red.

I think the offered guitar is from 2003.

Check the 'SE' number too. 'SE00860' is one of mine made in 2003/04
 So it should be a low number for a 2003 edition.

Mine is 03 and the number is 153 I think.
