Title: The Story Of The Guitar
Post by: dustyvalentino on October 06, 2008, 03:00:15 PM
MK will feature in the second part of a three part BBC series, to be broadcast next week.

The first ep was on last night (I missed it) and is repeated later this week. Next Sunday's ep will feature MK according to the link above.

Don't know when the tape was made, hope MK could be in the screen long, with some terrific riffs!!!!!

Unfortunately my DVD recorder is knackered just now, so I can record these to my HDD, but can't get them off.

Ideally somebody needs to record the direct DVB stream, somebody used to do this (Tommy J?).

I watched last night's episode and MK was on for a very short time, talking about how he was walking past a guitar shop holding his dad's hand and saying "I want that!"   It looked as if it had been recorded some time ago to me because Mark looked thinner and his hair was not like it is now imo.  It can be seen again for seven days on iplayer.

Oops. As said earlier, this is repeated later this week on BBC4. I can record to my HDD but can't put it onto DVD unfortunately.

Alternatively I can go and get it off one of the torrent sites and upload to the tracker tonight, but I don't know if Divx/Xvid is allowed?

I made a video recording of part 1, but didn't have time to watch yet! I thought that Mark wasn't in the program, but now you tell Val, I sure need to watch tomorrow evening and try to find him!  :P

IF somebody can record the shows on DVD, then it would be much easier because I can't put the video tape on my computer. All I perhaps could do is sending the video tape to somebody who can put it online. ::)

I read on MKnews that Mark will be in the next program!  ;)

Fieneke - Don't get too excited - in the first episode Mark is only on for about 10 seconds!  :)

I can't put the video tape on my computer.

Just pop it on top of the monitor.

Dusty, if an xvid is in lossless format, you can upload the raw files on the tracker.  We have a mod file torrent upped days ago and Fran managed to make a decent DVD after downloading.   :D

Haha Val, yeah I saw Mark!  :P Reading your comment, I knew it would be a small part, BUT didn't expect it was that small!  ;D I think even 10 seconds was too long!

Well I wait for the next part and hope he will be on TV much longer!

So... I'm in the middle of a busy/stressful house move and went to bed without watching this last night, any good?

I have recorded the first two parts and so only one left to record now!  Last night's episode was very interesting, but still not very much of MK, but more than last week!  I'm still of the opinion that Mark's parts were recorded sometime around the release of KTGC - end of 2007, perhaps?  He played a few notes of slide guitar and a few notes on a red Fender and there was the usual bit about his dad buying him a Hofner, but couldn't afford an amplifier, etc...!  Still no Clapton, though, but a small piece of DG!    :)

From the clip I saw last week it seemed that he had more hair than he's had for a while...

Yes, I think it was before the newish hairstyle!  ;)  I suspect it may have been filmed around the time of "Seven Ages of Rock".   BTW Dusty, best wishes for the move.  I hope you will be very happy in your new home.  At least you will be handy for the next concert tour!   :D

Thanks for the link

However, we have the seen the same lesson - even in detail - in some interviews before, but still nice  :)

That is fantastic, Mark seems very relaxed, I guess that is because he's in his studio, and how cool is it, to see him surrounded by some of the most famous and expensive guitars ever made!!! any guitar player famous or amature in the world could walk into that room and be in heaven ;D I liked watching him play the acoustic guitar, when he plays an acoustic you can just see what an acuarte player he is, and it was great watching him play that ragtime improv piece again, there is a video of him in a French studio in the 80's playing it too, i'm amazed he can remember how to play it.

On that webpage I mentioned before there is also a link to a short video of Mark discussing "Sultans of Swing" that is headed "Seven Ages of Rock". And it seems pretty obvious that Superval99 is absolutely correct. All the videos look like they are from the same recording.

Well, the thing is he talks to a lot of famous guitar players, and to get to interview them all for this program probably took a long time, as they would all have busy shedules. So it's not supprising it doesn't look like the interview with Mark was recent.
