Is this already known? On the site of Dutch concerthall is stated 8 man band plus Ruth Moody in pre-show.
So... 8 man band? Is that plus 1? Maybe Kim Wilson or Paul Franklin? Or also Ruth?
-
That's good if Ruth is there; almost certain she'll do a cameo during Mark's show on Seattle then.
-
It would be great to have Ruth on tour. I read somewhere that she harmonised on four songs, but I can only remember Seattle and Redbud Tree. :think It will be lovely to hear those two songs with Ruth. I would think the 8 man band includes Mark, but it would be great to have Kim Wilson along too!
-
If memory serves, Mike Henderson played the mouth organ too!

Oh no! Please not Mike Henderson! He and his very loud guitar ruined the 2001 concert for me! :o
-
I cant see another "singer" claiming the stage with MK - would be nice for Mr Franklin to get a ride out this time - then MK can re-open the whole OES era!

I think she sings on Go love and kingdom of gold ? :think

indeed sometimes he was a bit too loud, but I like his contributions on walk of like, who's your baby now, baloney again, wag the dog
I remember my friend drummer saying after the concert : "this band had a little texas blues-rock flavour, and it was good !"
I think indeed that he brought some punchy tones, and rock mood, but of course it wasn't good taste for all songs.
-
It's stated: Mark and his 8 man band... So a total of 9?
-
8 man band?
Richard, Glenn, Ian, Jim, Guy, John and Mike are 7 ;D
I dont think that Ruth is gonna be part of the band, maybe backing vocals on certain tracks but I doubt it anyway.
Does she plays any instrument?

Good spot. It must be Ruth then (I take it they mean "man" metaphorically)!

Wikipedia says this abouth Ruth Moody:
Ruth began to focus on her songwriting and picked up the guitar, adding it to her repertoire of piano, bodhran, accordion and banjo
Ruth has many dates confirmed while MK is on tour so I guess she

That's all we need; another multi-instrumentalist playing something on every tune where it's not wanted. ::)
-
I was just checking Ruth Moody's schedule on her website and I saw that she was doing a gig at this very unexpected venue, so we have just booked to see her! Farndale is a lovely day-out for us and it will be great to see Ruth again! :D

The Liverpool Echo Arena says "Knopfler and his full 8-piece band" but doesn't mention Ruth Moody.

I just wouldn't take it literally. Things like that have been known to be inaccurate before.

Who knows, maybe MK thought that one fiddle and one flute player at very little, and needs someone playing mandoline or pipes or harp or something celtic at the same time...
