What are the songs you'd love to hear live but that have never seen the stage so far?
Some of my favourites would be Punish the Monkey and Madame Geneva's, and of course Silvertown - what are yours?
-
Silvertown of course ! Fare thee well northumberland and Bluebird too.
-
Kingdom Come, Don't you get it, Silvertown Blues, Camerado, Madame Geneva's, Before gas and tv, The dream of the drowned submariner.
-
So Far From The Clyde
Seattle
-
Gator Blood, but they will ruin it for sure - smoother played with less energy.

Not necessarily. Look what happened to HFB, Coyote and Yon Two Crows - all much better live! Many more too. :)
-
Maybe, but the mentioned songs are not from the rough side of the knopfler-ouvre and in my humble opinion the very well behaving band would ruin the song by cutting the roughness - the only one which elaborates this particularly stuff is song for sonny liston: i really enjoy the versions on the dylan-tour! Great drums but crying for even more freedom between the licks...

Well, there's loads of songs to choose from counting b-sides and I'll probably forget to list many of them:
Badges... (good shout El Macho)
Kingdom Come
Millionaire Blues
Silvertown
Punish the Monkey
So Far From the Clyde
I think to name any from Privateering is perhaps too soon as we might hear them on the upcoming tour. However, I would like to hear from:
Bluebird
Submariner
Radio City

Communiqu

:wave ...Pottel, is it too much to ask for another poll?
:)
-
How about Making Movies? Does that count as it's supposedly unfinished?
-
I don't know if he has ever played live "Coyote" and "A place where we used to live", but these two are among my favourites.
I would also like to listen to "Skateaway" and "Single-handed sailor" live again. By the way, what are your favourite live renditions of these songs?

Coyote was played during GL tour in 2010
A place where....was played only once in Boothbay 2006
I love skateaway and SHS, in late 80 when the 2 songs were merged
Fav skateaway : werchter 81 or Emerald city 80
Fav SHS: sans fransisco, boston and emerald city 80, but also Amsterdam 79

Coyote was one of the highlights of the 2010 tour for me and they are all pretty good. I like Cordoba especially! :)

Hand in Hand
I always recall an old friend of mine from school used to love that song. I think perhaps with R&J being on the same album it's always been overlooked.
-
What is wrong with you people? Camerado! Oh and I count "it never rains"as "non-played" although I know it has been, I would just looooooove to hear mark use that wah-wah pedal again.
No Lis, no issue, go ahead and create one
-
Communique would have been great straight after Lions in those early concerts as a medley. Same key, same groove at the end of Lions.

Of course if we count INR as non-played it's #1

Here's another 'almost' never played live tune.."Iron Hand"...which just popped up today on Dime from Uniondale in 1992...http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=441053 (http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=441053). Oh yeah...also played in this show was an absolute killer cover of "Planet of New Orleans"..why Mark would ever decide to drop this is beyond me :think..some amazing picking on it by the man :clap

Yes. PoNO is one of my favourite live songs too. Mark plays so well on that song.
Maybe we could have another thread about songs mark could resurrect.
