do prefer the old secret policeman's version to this 2008 version, but it remains a great song and the YT version of hte old one is rather bad (but i prefer eric's attack on the new version)

Nice one Pottel!
My absolutely favourite instrumental track ever.
Even though both versions are solid and intense, (secret policemen is closer to the original, but I miss the Max Middleton keyboards and that the bass has to fill in for them) from many other editions I have heard, I will always prefer the studio recording in Blow by blow. http://youtu.be/IriEq4H1XSU Because it has to do with precision and the virtuosity is a tool for the beauty of the song, while on these live editions (at least the 2004 one), it seems and feels more like a show case for virtuosity.
I like this one very much for the musicmanship and some new fine solo licks : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VC02wGj5gPw&feature=share&list=AL94UKMTqg-9AaMoXJbR2hm3anmMAaszSV
And since this song was written by Stevie Wonder, we should not forget the first recording, with also has lyrics, by Syreeta Wright, his ex-wife. Heart felt.

Angelic voice. Sadly she died almost 10 years ago.

I prefer the studio version too
I prefer the 80s version than recent ones
I prefer when Jeff played with a pick rather with his weird finger technique
BTW do you know why eh switxched to fingerpicking ? because during a gig he lost his pick and fel desempared, so he decided to play without !
I like Eric's playing, but his atack on the new version is a bit too much, doesn't fit to the song IMHO
