Ha, ha! Think and hope are two entirely different things, I'm afraid! :)
Think:
Border Reiver
Corned Beef
What it is
Privateering
Kingdom of Gold/Crows
Hill Farmer's Blues
Romeo and Juliet
Sultans of Swing
Done with Bonaparte
Marbletown
Speedway at Nazareth
Telegraph Road
Brothers in Arms
So Far Away
Piper to the End
There are changes if you look hard!!! :lol :lol
Very nice set above, but I would be extremely pleased if he left Marbletown alone this time; 10 minutes wasted with a 3 minute song IMO.
-
You nailed it!
-
Indeed but a good song for introduction of the band also DWB is often used for that...
-

He could still play Marbletown, but this time the album version for a change, if he's short of time! ;)

I'd be happy with that! It's quite a good song for 3m30s, but for over 10m it gets boring for me personally. I think it's just used as a showcase for some other band members - and it shows. Gets to the point they're just milking it and the little song is stretched beyond breaking point.
-
Sorry Cannibals and Superval - Please no more DWB or Marbletown...... :P :thumbsdown :disbelief
-
This year, my brother is accompanying us to the Liverpool gig and he's never seen either DS or MK live before. His favourites are TR and BIA and I know he would love to see those songs played live. I think it's different for us who go to multiple concerts and hear certain songs every tour, but there are lots and lots of people, just like my brother, who would think it fantastic. MK has to cater for those people too! :)
-
1. Cannibals
2. Corned Beef City
3. Sailing to Philadelphia
4. El Macho
5. Gator Blood
6. Privateering
7. Sultans of Swing
8. You and your Friend
9. Go, love
10. Romeo and Juliet
11. Radio City Serenade
12. Walk of Life
13. Speedway
14. Brothers in Arms
15. So far from the clyde
16. TOL
17. Money for nothing
All the songs who came up in my head at once

Agreed - You and Your Friend with Richard Bennet on the lap steel would be nice.....better if it was Paul Franklin....but he isnt on tour this time....
-
Man's Too Strong is okay but doesn't really get me excited. Now Y&YF is another prospect altogether... :thumbsup
I long for PONO too.

That is a good one indeed... Oh and reading Guy's diary where he says Nigel Hitchcock (he plays sax) will be joining them on UK shows probably meens more DS songs in the list.
-
Setlist looks realistic but too long ???
And I don't think more DS songs at all, realistic is less.
There is some sax but in Privateering you can hear some sax too. AND if a song didn't contain sax before it doesn't mean that it cannot appear. Hopefully not too much ::)

I don't know; Mark's current trend toward Celtic/folky stuff doesn't really lend itself as well to sax interludes as DS songs did so I tend to think more oldies or less Celtic style too.
-

Mark said that he did not like the angle used to wrote songs for the OES album, and I think Y&YF is part of them, although muscially speaking that one is pure jewel.
-
I always wondered what was "You and your friend" about...
-
I always wondered what was "You and your friend" about...
I always thought it was on the famous basic love triangle : husband, wife and lover
why shoud we always surch complication in Mark's songs ? :hmm :lol
-
Well, Mark takes a saxplayer with him on tour. So I think we can expect quite a different setlist. I saw someone mention Y&YF, but that would kinda require Paul Franklin. So I think that one won't be played.
With a saxplayer being in the band who knows we might see Tunnel of Love back on setlist and the sax driven song Planet of New Orleans woudln't suprise me either to appear.
Also I read not to long ago in a magazine that Mark was thinking about putting Iron Hand on the setlist.
The wishes I have is the following songs being on the playlist:
- Yon Two Crows
- Haul Away
- the extended version of Marbletown
- So Far From The Clyde
- Hill Farmer Blues
- Speedway At Nazareth
The songs Border Reiver, Iron Hand, Planet of New Orleans and Silvertown Blues would be very very nice too!
-
I think that the setlist will vary a little bit on this tour, simply because of the extra musicians that are added. With Ruth Moody opening some shows, the addition of Nigel in the UK, and you never know, maybe a special apperance from Clapton on the first night at the RAH. (Clapton is playing the night before.)
Watch for Portobello Belle this time too. Marbletown and TR will be gone I think.
1) What it is/Why aye Man
2) Corned beef city
3) Sailing to Phily
4) Redbud tree
5) Privateering
6) Hill Farmers Blues
7) Portobello Belle
8) Sultans
9) Romeo and Juliet
10) Kingdom of Gold/Yon Two crows
11) Dream of the Drowned Submariner
12) Done with Boneparte/Border Reiver
13) Haul Away/Brothers in Arms
14) Speedway at Nazareth
15) Go Love/Seattle (with Ruth Moody)
16) So far away
17) Going Home

Your Latest Trick might get played. They did it with Chris in 2002.

But no Chris this time, and will he ever be invited again?

My point is that they have another sax player.
-
Last year Mark played a private concert for Landrover and Nigel was also there to play sax.
I believe it was more a DS setlist on that day plus STP. What i think is that the same will happen on this tour and perhaps a new song will come up in the setlist.... if we get Lucky...

No setlists from me. I think that he should do a thematic evening, (album- period-covers-whatever) plus some songs from the new album. I know that he probably is sick of playing the old songs, but I don't even crave for TOL,BIA, SOS, or TR. Maybe play loosely songs from the first two DS albums. Or play the new album from start to end with the extra solos and transformations he usually applies in the live reditions. But fat chance...

We have only had three concerts so far, and I'm very pleased with the way things are going, especially the wonderful setlist from Sofia! There's a long way to go yet - another 66 or so shows! Why does last song have to be the same? He can't win can he, people moan whatever he does! As it is we have had the wonderful Going Home and Piper and SFA - enough to please most people! That wasn't predictable, was it! Rant over! ;)
-
The first and last songs are like the flags of the concert, if you know what I mean, that songs should be the same always, its like the trademark of the concert itself.
Obviously he can make what he wants, some will be more pleased than others, as Pink Floyd used to say some we are dogs, some we are sheeps, no offense on it ;D ;D ;D

PHEW, I thought we were over this. After one week of bashing and ranting about SET LIST I thought the first listenings of YouTube clips gave the people the impression that MK is REALLY on fire this time and that we are about to expect a special tour. I don't care about set list anymore, even he plays the same list as 2010 it would be fine with me because IT IS NEVER THE SAME. Have you seen the list from yesterday, quite unusual changes. I expect one surprise in every show, not that few if you ask me. So please, the glass is half full. Please.
