Title: Thanks Alchemy01
Post by: shangri la 1 on August 06, 2008, 12:20:47 AM
;D ;D Many thanks Dan. It is very nice to see some progress with our Mark Knopfler project and this forum may just kick start the remainder of the site, especially now that the tour has ended. I for one would like to take this opportunity to re-affirm my commitment to the project.

Kind regards
Ian

Thank you Ian, it's no problem. I hope this forum will help boost some energy for the project too, and I am also fully committed to seeing this project completed.

Great, does anyone have ideas for specific forums yet?  :D

If you go back to the main page, both Pottel and Shangri-La 1 should see a second forum there already.

Yes, we are all "newbies" at the moment...until you reach 50 posts...that's how the forum is.

Should we have an Exchange and Share thread?

Not only that, I was hoping for an audio/video "vines" forum.

Yes, great work Dan, Nelly and others. The forum is damn impressive already. Simple Machines is working out fine.

Are we included on any search engines yet? We need more members!

I wouldn't really want to try to post about this new forum on MK News for fear of upsetting TK, but how about the "other" official forum?

shall i go ahead on the official forum though?

I don't think we want to annoy TK - remember all the good stuff he does, fan pre-sales, getting tickets for one off things like the Variety Club lunch, BBC Music Club etc.

let's not get into the TK discussion here now shall we?
seriously, besides the good things he has doen, there are many, many not so good things.
if you start a thread on his persona (which we will not of course as it is ridiculous, and not in the spirit of what this forum should be about )you will see not only "good" comments, is all i wanna say.

and may i mention that normally it is not done to plug a forum in a forum of the same interest? at least not a fanbased one ( ithink it should be possible on the official one)

Yeah, I know all about TK. All I'm saying is, lets just imagine for a second that our forum (and maybe the other official MK forum) are so successful that the MK News forum effectively "dies". TK gives up. We may no longer have a conduit for pre-sales and the one-off things I mentioned before.

This is really nothing to do with TK, purely self-interest on my part as I want to continue to get the best seats etc.  :)

Dusty - I was always under the impression that we ordered our tickets etc. from MarkKnopfler.com and not from MKNews, so it wouldn't make too much difference.  It's nice to have MKNews, though, to keep us up-to-date with, well, news I suppose!   ;D  Maybe it would just be MK News Fans' Forum that would disappear.

Post by: Pottel on August 19, 2008, 02:38:14 PM
yep, i ordered through the official forum, not the TK forum
and any news appearing on there is not really news anymore for most of us insiders.
i for example just found out that Geraint Watkins will appear on stage together with Mark at the Joe Brown thing in September...

Oh well, I thought TK had a hand in it as well, perhaps I got that wrong. He definitely offered tickets for the BBC Muic Club thing, and the Variety Club lunch.

"just as likely" is DEFINETELY not the right choice of phrasing here, lol
