Why is the set list white since a few days? And why is I Dug Up A Diamond not red?

Redbud Tree tonight ? 8)
Very nice tune though, but too short, need to be expanded the same way Marbletown was :DRedbud Tree tonight ? 8)
Didn't really work last time did it and they seemed to give up on it pretty quickly. I wonder if they've found a different arrangement for it? :think

I thought the same - they had some little drumming in it in 2012 - when the song seems to be over, it should start again with some more rhythmic drumming and some pedal steel soloing, at least 2 minutes more... :-) I don't think we will hear it again..Let's see........ ;)

I Dug Up A Diamond. How ironic a title for a song if ever there was one! ::)I'm afraid the set list will pretty much stabalize to this... As Mark tends to reduce the number of songs as the tour goes by... This would mean no SAN, YTC, KOG in France... :(

Well 2010 was special as Mark was in pain.I Dug Up A Diamond. How ironic a title for a song if ever there was one! ::)I'm afraid the set list will pretty much stabalize to this... As Mark tends to reduce the number of songs as the tour goes by... This would mean no SAN, YTC, KOG in France... :(
You know him well! Let us hope the inspiration and energy in his playing doesn't vanish too like it usually does later in the tour as it did in 2010.
And I wonder what it is exactly that mcgoldrick is laughing about with Ian Thomas all the time. Funny thing to watch.
Bremen was great, but Antwerp was better. I cannot repeat enough that mark is in a good mood. What I do not get though, is when they have an early flying time slot, why they start their show so late?
I like the "Diamond" and I was sure that it will come a time when the setlist will be more static, but the song that changes, that we can say its "Song number 6", I dont like it to change...+1
I explain myself. When the changing song was "Yon two crows / Kingdom of gold", it was fine, two new songs, both of them with his own great feeling live. If you dont presence one, you will listen the other. And if you attend two or more shows in a row, the better. But if that songs are not played because thats the one that changes, and you get Tupelo or Diamond... Well, that are rare songs but you are missing the greater ones of the tour. Is nice to listen to a raritie, but the price is quite high.
I will probably use the song 11, in this case "Haul away", that I love too, but its not so essential in the tour, as the changing one.
Its a difficult thing really, to please everyone, isnt it?
"Diamond" is one of my all time fave and did have very few opportunities to hear it live (actually two times) so I would have been delighted if I was there.Hey, Marbletown is the only extended stuff, like TOL used to be, so let's keep it that way ! :)
With only 16 songs performed in less than 2 hours and such a catalogue to choose from you can't please everybody.
Especially if several songs are toward or over the 10 minutes long.
So another reason to think that current Marbletown is a waiste of time.
Early 2008 version was quite a fun shorter and strong version, then it evolved and it wa still fun, although the "new part", although highly entertaining, is something that is a very common heard on the folky scene. Now extended that long it had become to "boring" state.
Same boring feel for all the first half of TR, a real sleeper part culminating with thin Richard solo where it needs something loud and strong. Just have to wake when Mark switch to the Pensa with the hope he will not f.ck the final solo...

As for TR, I like Istanbul a lot, despite the "karaoke mode": energetic, with a bit of synth, fantastic solo, feels back to 2005.
Even the karaoke mode is a bit better than usual: no guital, but Jim' tries his best to make up for it jamming the piano ! :)

what I never understood, is to "cut" the rolling river solo on guitar, but to not replace by another instrument.
in 91/92, it was "logic" : the guitar was "replaced" by the sax. you may like it or not (I like it), but at least it has a "logical" sense, that Mark did many times in many new arrangements : a special part played by a specific instrument in studio is played live by another intsrument. ok
but, since 2008, he decided to replace the guitar by...nothing. and it gives indeed the famous "karaoke" mode like Herlock said.
Mark has a 8-members band, and he hasn't got any idea to give this place to another musician ? Instaed of two cittern, it could have been a violin solo on this part ? or flute or... ok I iknow you don't like flute ;D But I prefer having an sintrument playing somethnig, then...no solo at all
nonsense IMHO.

I liked his sultans veeeeeeeeeerrry much yesterday, he keeps doing new stuff lick wise all the time this tour.
I agree he makes more mistakes this tour, but we get new licks, variation and so on. So I can't care about it :)

Quite a poor version imo. Mark seems to run out of ideas near the end (the guitar becoming very quiet when it should be building to a climax bizarrely), then just decides enough and goes for the final solo.I couldn't disagree more! ;) Great version and great playing. The licks at the end are pretty standard, so I don't think he ran out of ideas at all. Are we listening to the same clip? Cool playing, taking risks, making small mistakes as always, a bit out of tempo sometimes, but great. I guess you wouldn't notice any of the irregularities if you were there.
