Title: 30 or 31 songs played so far.
Post by: jabbathehut on June 02, 2013, 05:59:56 PM
Does someone have an easy way of listing the songs played so far.
From what i can see there have been 30(counting father and son as one and hillfarmers as one) but the setlist listings say 31.
Thanks

I think that 31 songs is quoted in the listings because at the Belgrade concert, Mark played a segment of a tune called "Dark was the night, cold was the ground" as an intro to "Miss you blues".

"Dark was the night .." is a song written by Blind Willie Johnson in 1927 and Mark played it as the theme for a US TV documentary about astronomy called "Seeing in the dark". Mark also used this tune, I think during the 2010 tour, as an intro to "Donegan's gone".

All the best.

he also used it in 2007 (KTGC promo tour) as an intro to Donegan

and of course it's the tune that influenced Cooder for his famous Paris texas soundtrack

Did Guy say they rehearsed 36 songs total  ???  So, what would the next 5-6 songs be?

Maybe the other songs will appear after this little break.  This break is similar to the break they usually have when crossing the continent so maybe the set will see a new song or two. :think

He could record an EP during the break. Imagine this: "MK - the London tapes". Or something like that.
I assume that the guys from the US (Glenn, Jim and Richard) are going to stay in London town during the break.

Well, RB said in his notes that he was.  It makes sense considering his son works there now but also it is a long time travelling.

The last EP was recorded in a day or something wasn't it so this is all ready done: "MK - Best of RAH."  It only needs mastering!
