I found the whole session in FLAC the other day, PM me if you want it :wave
My favourite part is when MK tells Richard (after RB's done a killer lick) - "That's OK Richard, but you can do better than that" ;D
-
Don't get me wrong, the FLACs are from the same crappy source.
Edit: oh, 300th :)

Mark Knopfler - 1998-06-25 Nashville,USA. -"MASTER SESSIONS in NASHVILLE 1998"- part of the Chet Atkins(June 22-28) Musician Days.
I once started on a remaster of this show , but i I upped to original files( not mine) on dime first ( how smart), so the remaster went in the frig.
although some "work" is coming my way , Ill see if I can find extra spare time to finish it.
That show is great....this I what I wrote about it back then:
"
Enlight note:
Great and fun stuff to have.
Mark talks a lot about his guitar and writing skills, music he likes etc.
During his talking parts Mark uses his guitar to give strength to his master-class,
you can say that his guitar does the real talking when words comes short, logical because Mark express himself better with guitar rather then talking.
the most heard fact that Mark doesn't have a lot of Humor (which he certainly has) can be flushed too the "drain" after listening this.
Mark spontaneous makes up lyrics during picking and strumming his guitar. And is joking and fooling around.
Nice versions of two Shadows song.
Mark changing the key of his voice during "Just One Time", he starts a bit too high in key . A song he recorded with Chet also.
Two songs only performed during this session "Two Skinny Kids" and "It's Been A While" makes this already a must have.
Great to hear "The BuG" played during this session.
so listen the samples ,and when you grab it , sit down , relax and let Mark give you a private guitar lesson
Enjoy!! I DiD!
thx to Allen.
covers and MD5 included
+++IN MEMORY OF CHET ATKINS+++
Take Care

Unfortunately, I don't have such a beautiful song "Two skinny kids" available in MP3 format. However, I've found one interesting article accessible at http://livecustomwriting.com/blog/main-reason-why-kids-cant-sit-still-during-the-lesson (http://livecustomwriting.com/blog/main-reason-why-kids-cant-sit-still-during-the-lesson). Just read it!

This is such a wonderful song! It's one of the songs of his entire catalogue that can move me the most, so very touching. I would love to listen to a better/remastered version, so please help me out...
I used to be able to follow and understand the lyrics for the better part but there are some parts where it's a bit unclear what he's singing exactly. Would someone of us be able to transcribe the complete lyrics of this fantastic tune? That would be great.
Every time Mark is recording a new album I hope this one finally sees the light of day. Fingers still crossed...

This is what I found years ago, any corrections are very welcome of course!
The Everly Brothers are back in town my friend
Will they ever be, they may never be back again
First time around
They all loved their sound
They're back in town my friend
Their daddy took them to the county fair
Especially to see them from Tennessee
They were there
No money for the gate
He took them to the fence and he said to wait
He took them to the county fair
They saw two skinny kids with dusty shoes
Peeking through the fence, at the instruments, begging you
They'll die just to meet with you
Chet, you know they sing good too
Two skinny kids with dusty shoes
Gibson made them Everly guitars
Black as ebony
((a guitar part?)..in ivory?)
They make the stars
Songs from Dan and Lesley
And a little Bo Diddley
With them Everly guitars
Look where all the years have gone
Singing harmony, you were usually Phil and I was Don
That's how we used to play
Or was it rather the other way?
Look where all the years have gone

Somehow I think this is one the more personal songs of MK as it seems to be about both the Everly brothers as well as Mark and his brother David. Maybe their rather difficult current relationship prevents MK from actually recording and releasing this gem...
-
Nice take and I guess a right one! Although MK would never admit it and would say that thousands of kids in those years wanted to be like the Everly Brothers!

The song was recorded indeed, but left out from Sailing to Phildelphia, and filed with many many many other nice songs...

There was an interview at one point where MK said he and a friend would play at being The Everly Brothers so maybe not about DK.

That would be Mark's friend Vince, who he know since childhood.

Yes, Vince who is mentioned in Basil :)

That's right, Mark talks about him and the Everly Brothers on the A Life In Music video.
