Paul Franklin - musical genious!!

When Vince demonstrates the Chicken Picking style, it reminded me immediately to the sound of the Long Highway version from those Timothy White sessions - did Mark use it conciously at that occasion? Also on How Long I remember to detect that sound? Can you confirm as a  country man yourself?  ;)

I will sound picky ( I must admit I am  ;D ) but they were just additional/side musicians.

DS official members were Guy - Terry W - Hal - Alan - John - Pick - Dave and Mark.

Paul Franklin was made "honorary 96er member"

Vince Gill was offered a seat at the time of OES but declined to concentrate on his solo career.

Mark use chicken pickcing style in many songs :
- setting me up
- freeway flyer
- six blade knife (live)
- yakety axe
etc...

but the way he plays in the long highway version from the TW session isn't chicken picking style at all.

Both Vince And Paul are great musicians imho,

listen here to Vince's intro @ 53min 30sec , very close to Marks "Setting me up" (different key though) with the NHB

Absolutely !!!.....................Vince seems to use a pick on songs more often now , on which he used to "Chicken-Pick" before? .
As Mark always says : "a pick is the best amplifier"

Nice album of you like old, proper country (I do).

The play out on the song Holding Things Together sounds like MK.

I always thought that Mark does country rather well, more so than the celtic stuff he's into nowadays.  Or is it just that I prefer it?  :think

Good to hear from PF.  Thanks Dusty.
