I've been reading up on this forum ever since I found it about a year ago. It's been a lot of fun to read from people who don't just think of Knopfler as the guy who wrote WOL or MFN.

I "discovered" the man and his music through a clip where he played his '58 Les Paul, and got intrigued. The same year he released KTGC and I just bought it on a whim. Later that year I saw him when he came to Sweden. That album made me want more and I've since picked up all of his studio work. For some reason I didn't think Dire Straits was for me though. That is until I actually listened to all of the albums. I had a wonderful month of just exploring and discovering all the albums and realised that they had done so much more than BIA.

I think OES and Communique might be my favourite albums at the moment, but it's hard to decide and they depend on your mood. LOG is one of the best songs ever written in my opinion!

Anyways, for a young guy from Sweden it's good to talk to people as obsessed as I am ;D

LOG - an often overlooked song. The rare occasion where the album version is very much better than the live one IMHO.

Lis: I had a hard time coming up with anything, so thanks :)

dmg: I couldn't agree more, the studio version is a masterpiece that IMHO was never matched live (I wish the ending would've been longer).

foma: Playing guitar has been my main interest since I was a little boy! I see we're the same age, and that we both seem to enjoy the process of picking out songs by ear. You seem to be spot on, so I won't hesitate to ask you if I'm stuck somewhere. If you ever need a second opinion on a part of a song I wil gladly try and give my input :) BTW, I just saw you playing one more matine, great job and a great choice!
