He comments very briefly about revising his files for songs to record

great interview, thx for sharing!
Mark again as humble as always.

Except when he met five or six mature fans outside a venue that refuse to take pictures with them.
In the distance, in his comfort zone, he is very humble, funny and nice, but when with fans, no matter they are just a few of them, the thing changes. I hope its just because when growing older, his shyness grows too.

Oh, if it works for you, he used to be grumpier during the DS years, now its more down on earth!

don't forget that he's just a man after all....
I like Ed's quote in Oldfield book about "stars" "famous people"etc..., after the jam session with Mark and Bob in LA : something like "you know, every most famous people, the greatest star you could meet, the bigger idol you have, as "important" as he is, whatever a "legend" he is....he also must to, like everyone, go to the restroom everyday, that's all..." ;D

Thanks for that Jbaent. :thumbsup

Again there is that file with 60 songs... I am pretty sure the new work could be a double again, a triple, or a box set! Mk going nuts and releasing a box set with 50 new songs. That would be something... 8)

Oh, yep, with one or two bonus albums with all past leftovers, since 1977... I'm sure half of us would be dead by heart attack the exact moment we put our hands on it!

Very nice interview. Interesting to hear him talk of Back to Tupelo and Gator Blood. I got the Elvis and manager thing in BtT, but I never figured out Gator Bood before. I'm going to have to give it another listen now :)

Thanks!

For me, just seeing the mention of Son House stirred a memory. I do hope I've not told this story before but, if I have, I apologise and hope it's worth the repetition.
I saw Son House on 25 July 1965 at a festival in Rhode Island. He was on the bill for a late morning concert and the weather was dull. Son House came on stage with his steel guitar and, as he was playing "This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine", the sun really did come out and, as he played, it flashed off the polished steel. The sun mostly stayed out for the afternoon concert that day but clouds were beginning to come across. On the bill that afternoon were Richard and Mimi Farina. In the middle of their set, the clouds opened and, for a short while, buckets of rain fell out of the sky. But the crowd was not cowed by a summer squall and got off their feet and clapped and danced along to the music, defying the storm. And what was one the songs they played in their set? "Celebration for a Grey Day". Sometimes, music is just plain magical.

Lovely story. And you are right concerning the power of music.

I don't know if they are complete songs or skethes and incomplete lyrics, but after all Chris Rea already done that when he released an 11 CD album !

I can attest to the power of Mark's music to that. It's food that feeds the soul I always say.
I found a quote : " music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything" Plato. :)
