What a weekend I had, managed to score a ticket on the front row, two seats left of centre
to see Mark knopfler play at the Pearl Concert hall at the Palms hotel in Las Vegas.
I flew out of Ottawa, on Thursday night heading for Vegas, on my own planing on having some fun.
Picked up my rental car and I ended up checking into the Palms hotel around 2:00am Friday morning. All good! ;D ;D ;D
Took a tour of the casino and went to bed around 3:00am.
The problem started the next morning, I woke up around 8:00am not feeling too good, the flu I had been fighting
all week decide to really pay me a visit. So I shut my eyes hoping to get a bit more sleep, no problem I woke up around 11:00am
not feeling good but hungry. Got a late breakfast and I went down to the pool took some meds and fell asleep by the pool for a couple of hours and then I moved to
my room, slept until 5:30pm. Had a shower and went to meet Ingrid, sweetsurrender, Knopfling, Vijay and Debbie nice to see you guys from AMIT.
Has a couple of Scotch's and some more meds and off to the show.
What a real good show front row centre helped, just over 2 hrs of guitar heaven.
After the show a couple more drinks with the group, left early and off to bed. Woke up the next morning around 11:15am checkout was at 11:00
had a quick shower, and checked out. my plane did not leave until 11:00 at night. So still feeling like shit, I tried to do a couple of sight seeing things.
After a couple of hrs of walking around, I was f**ked. I went to a movie to pass some time.
5:00pm came round I was feeling hungry, grabbed some food and took some more meds. got back to my car around 7:00pm real tired as
I did not have to be back a the airpot until 9:00pm I had a snooze in the car.
WHAT A F**KING MISTAKE :thumbsdown I woke up at 10:30pm in the parking lot at the Palms. Over a 30 mins drive to the airport and my flight left at 11:00pm
Guess what, I missed my flight. Feeling shitty and stupid, I was not happy with myself.
Called my wife Pat, and she managed to book me on a flight the next day at 2:00pm. So now I needed a room for the night.
Saturday night in Vegas lets party, no lets not
I need more sleep. Tried the budget hotels to get a room, no luck all full (or the 5 I tried where). Drove back to the Palms and asked
about a room I was told $350.00 plus $20.00 resort fee.
I explained that I had stayed at the hotel on Thursday and Friday night for less than $50.00 + resort fee, hoping they could do better. I was told
its Saturday night and thats the best they can do.
I said f**k that, and as I was getting real good at sleeping in the car, thats what I did. Took some more meds and passed out in the car.
The next morning I washed up in the bathroom at the Palms and drove back to the airport in plenty of time to make my fight.
Got back into Ottawa at 11:45pm on Sunday, made it home for 1:00am. Back to work on Monday morning. left work at noon and have been in bed since
still feeling real shitty. But glad to be home.
I enjoyed the show, but not the best weekend in Vegas.
Brian.

Oh dear, that really sucks. It was great to meet you, hope you feel better now.

Oh, Brian, I am so sorry you had all that trouble, being sick and missing the plane.
I've slept in my rental car in the parking lots at the Hard Rock and the Four Seasons in the past because I had 6 a.m. flights after the concert, but I wasn't sick at the time. That must have been quite uncomfortable.
It was really good meeting and talking with you.
Hope you're better now.

Brian,
Wow! That's what I love the stories of our adventures in our pursuit for a perfect 2 hours of heavenly guitar sound. No denying, we all had found it.
Wish you had done the entire shows with us.
Next time ! ;)

I wish I had done the whole trip with you, I will have to plan better next time.
BTW. I did check the MK site for the vinyl set, they do not have it listed yet, there are a few places
in the US that are listing it. I might have to order from one of them.
Now get the scotch out and order the blue recording stick (USB)!! 8) 8)
The scotch was out as soon as I got home, 2 good shots before I went to bed.
I had already ordered the Blue Stick before the show, being at the show makes me want it more.
I am starting to feel better, by the end of the week I should be 100%

Yes, no way you would fall asleep during the concert. :o
...Was thinking that with all the meds, it would have been disastrous if you took a nap in your car prior to the concert, to wake up and find out you had missed it...
