I really like his new album. Even if I think it's somewhat questionable to put old outtakes and things on new albums (he's done it on his latest releases), I still think it would be great fun if our own MK would to the same.  ::)

I love Springsteen's work, mostly the 75-85 era

After Tunnel of love I only have Human touch and lucky town as downloaded files,  and I must admit that after that , I didn't pay much attention to his records.

BUT I have seen him live in Lyon 93, and what a gig !

more than 3 hours, lot of interraction with the public, sometimes in french, a kiss to a girl in the crowd, he played the star spangled banner ala hendrix as an intro to born in the USA, first part of a gig alone with his acoustic guitar, and then the full band...

great memories

I'd say that it was my favourite gig I attended in term of "rock attitude" "public interaction", and "what a rock concert should be in term of a musician giving all that he have to the public" I may say

my favourite concert, in term of gigantism/ audio-visual experience / atmosphere/ etc... was Floyd in 94

and my all time favourite concert in term of  "affective" was Mark in 96, because so much surprises in the setlist (songs and arrangements), so much enthousiasm, so great playing, and I was so close to mark

interesting, my favourite audio-visual experience was also the floyd in 94. and then Roger waters with the wall just this summer, so much better and more impressive then the first time i saw that show in 2009.
i sort of like bits of Bruce, but what i really really like is that acoustic album with them folk tradiotionals on it. forgot the name.

Sorry for being out off topic, but just for Pottel :
I saw Floyd in Lyon (Gerland stadium)  september 94, the night they played various songs from various albums, but not the night they played the whole DSoTM.
the scene was elevated, and it was good for me, because I'm not tall.
the sound was perfect. Loud, but not agressive to ears as it's sometimes the case on venues like Tony garnier.
some people said that they heard the sound until...Villeurbanne (north from Lyon, while the stadium is in the south of the town).
the screen, the big pigs muppets, fireworks, and all...a great "show", not only musical

great memories....although I would have prefered to see them live during 73-77 era....

I must admi that now I don't listen to any of their recordings from 80ies-90ies, I still prefer the 70ies era, especially the 75 an the 77 tours

strange, as i have all existing recordings from all 1994 floyd shows, and lyon was only played on 23.09.1994 (i saw them a few weeks earlier in Werchter, Belgium, 02.09.1994)

No they also played on 11th september, also Lyon gerland :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Division_Bell_Tour#Tour_dates (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Division_Bell_Tour#Tour_dates)

and I am 100% sure I attended a gig with NO full DSoTM.

I remember a friend of mine attending the other gig, with the full DSoTM

I don't have the ticket right now to check, but regarding your setlist, I must have attended the 11th, while my friend attended the 23th

maybe you have all exitsing recordings, but no all gigs performed  ;)

It seems I often go to gig that aren't recorded :
my first DS gig in 92 and my first MK gig in 96 are not on Jeroen's site, so I guess that no recordings exist from these concerts

and now, same for Floyd....I wonder if the Springsteen gig was recorded  ;D

EDIT : your link quotes also the 11th

Pink Floyd
Stade de Gerland, Lyon
September 11th, 1994
-- -------------------

Source: Dime download (seems to be dead now)
Lineage: DAT MASTER > SILVER > CDR > EAC > WAV > FLAC (Via dBpower AMP, low compression)

Changes made (Nero 6):
Cross mixed channels 70:30, removes mic phasing, instruments clearer, less noticable crowd noise
Fixed the changing L/R channel balance between tracks
Evened out the different volume levels on all tracks

Quality: Worth an A+ now
-------------------------

I had been uniformly disappointed with the recording quality of all the 1994 posts I grabbed, so
I decided to commit what some PF enthusiasts may deem heresy and remaster the best I could find -
and it has turned out much better, even if it doesn't quite reach the quality of earlier classic
recordings, so here it is...

Enjoy !!

JF and Pottel thanks for the PF info! Wish I was there! I saw Wall the previous summer by accident, and it was great, but I just felt like I was in a musical show rather than a concert. But it felt good! And it was the only time that Gilmour was only missed for his voice (OK and the Comfortably Numb solo)

As for Bruce, I completely adore his work up to his 5LP live in the mid eighties. I have all his records (but this last one) but maybe I am too old to really delve into them and extract the same joy that I found in his 70ies and 80ies records. My absolute favorite album is the 1973  The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle. Different from his next releases, yet archetypical Springsteen!
Never saw him live, and since he usually plays in large venues I doubt my going even if he comes in Greece.

I heard this morning that Pete Seeger has died aged 94, so I dug out my copy of "The Pete Seeger Sessions" with Bruce Springsteen from St Lukes.    I haven't listened to it for years, but it was a great concert!    RIP Pete!

Love Bruce. Am an equally big fan of both Mark and Bruce.
Both are an inspiration to me (musically & personally), off course each in a different way....

In my book, Bruce is the most incredible performer you will ever see &  Mark is the best guitarist you'll find. What they have in common is their talent for songwriting/storytelling.

We saw Bruce last Sunday at the Hope Estate venue - it was a fresh experience for me & pleasant too, he doesn't disappoint, the energy & legendary concert length, we didn't get home till 2am!

The set lists are in setlist.com so I checked the following day to see what he'd performed the night before there and there were lots of changes, he really mixes it up! Amazing!!
I was super happy to hear two songs from The Wild & Innocent

Yeah!! If you check our setlist 23feb he grabbed a banner from the crowd and unveiled Rosalita one letter at a time - all real fans went nuts, there were lots drinking wine who you could tell only know one 80s album! ;)
But he began a 75 minute encore with Sandy, before pleasing the masses with all the hits..
What was really special was that Bruce finished with two acoustic guitar solo songs, the first was a proper request I Wish I Was blind from the Human Touch album (a little obscure for the 10000+ crowd) but Bruce asked the dude if he'd "broken up with someone, people who ask for this have usually broken up.... no?... You're just an appreciater of art then.." Big grin!! And a rare performance. Followed by Thunder Road with the audience in the palm of his hand.. walked off stage quietly, and we all walked off to the sound of atmospheric synths, kinda eerie & spiritual.
A first for me.
I only have Bruce's live 75-85 set. My wife & I prepped our guests (my daughter & her 15yr old friend) by playing the speech intro and song The River... I'm pretty sure the girls were impressed even though it's a far cry from their usual musical influences.

as my english is pretty poor, I never understood the speech intro to the river, even I believe it's very emotionnal, about his childhood, right ?
I would be grateful if you could summarize and explained it

JF i can try and summarise what IS a very emotional speech (Other Bruce fans may know better?)

Bruce is talking about his relationship with his father and the common misunderstandings or generation gap issues. He specifically mentions his dads anger at his long hair as an example, he mentions it a few times, for instance "tucking it under his shirt" - hoping his Dad will not notice it.
The two points driven home towards the end, is his "talking to his girl all night" which is an obvious context straight into the song, but more directly is his Dad saying "that's good" when Bruce fails the Vietnam medical test, long after saying that he wants the army to "make a man out of you" & "they'll straighten you out."
It's a powerful message of a brief moment of his Dads love that he expressed verbally in spite of their turbulent relationship.

Man, I really did find that hard to explain, can anyone help?

I understood he talked about his father , about "really long hairs upon his shoulders", but I didn't understand that his father blamed it.
I understood the final word "that's good", but I never understood about army-vietenam-medical-test

so many thanks for your explanation, it's far clearer now  :)

I would have to hear it again...,  but if I am correct in this speech he talks about how he avoided his army draft. He talks about how friends of his eventually were sent off to Vietnam, Bruce even lost some friends who were involved in the Vietnam war. He also talks about how his father used to say "the army will make you a man." Bruce would come home late at night and his dad would be waiting up for him. Bruce would try to sneak into the house, putting his long hair inside the collar of his coat/jacket so his dad wouldn't notice. Off course his dad would always catch him quietly entering the house, he would always have Bruce sit down at the table......

Actually an emotional speech, it says a lot about Bruce and the at the time bad relationship with his dad.
Still get goosebumps when I hear that speech.....
