Someone friended me on fb (I have no idea who they are, but I have 4 mutual Knop friends, so I figured it can't be all bad...)
And added me to yet another MK fan group...
Anyway, I'd never seen the above sketch Tim but Dim Dire Straits before, worth a watch, we can all relate !! - thanks whoever you are!!!
-
Funny! I've never seen it before. Thanks for posting it for us.
-
Yeah, Harry was big in the UK around 1990ish, that's the single version of sultans too !
-
enfield and chums, brought me to the, imho, far better fast show with paul whitehouse..
-
I would love to see it but apparently it's not available in my country! ???
EDIT: Problem solved - bypassed it through a proxy server! ;)
-
Thanks, that was quite funny. ;D ;D ;D

When I saw him miming in the mirror with the racquet, I immediately thought at Mark's sister's (Ruth) quote when she saw her little brother miming like that when he was young : "no, it's the other way !" ;D
-
Hey thanks for the link,
but honestly,
I was waiting 2:18 min and waited and waited for the funny part to start.... :wave
Boohhoo, I know... :P

Can't watch but have seen before and was also discussed on TRoad or somewhere back in the day - isn't it a rare version of Sultans or something?
-
Just the original single release, with the different guitar parts at the end. I have the single on 45
Im sure it's in YouTube, or you could watch the tennis racquet version, haha!
Remember the interviewer (for Get lucky I think) who bemoaned at Mark the non release of THIS single version on cd and Mark just ... yawns !!! That's our Knopfler :)
-
yes the single version which might have been recorded on 20th april 1978, because Warner found the original studio version not "rock" enough
it's the first time Mark added these few bars just before the famous final lick.
He kept playing these few bars until 2009, when he decided to go back to the "original" outro, at the Prince trust show 9/9/9
