Title: Another snippet from 1979
Post by: twm on June 12, 2014, 07:23:21 PM
MELODY MAKER (7 April 1979) reported that The Searchers had signed a deal with the Sire label and will start work on a new album which will include "versions of unreleased material from Bob Dylan's 'Street Legal' album plus new songs written for the band by Elvis Costello and Dire Straits' Mark Knopfler".

Wiki says that the resulting album was called "The Searchers" and that it was on Sire SRK-6082 (UK only). Slightly different information is given elsewhere

Tracklist .

A1  Hearts In Her Eyes  3:19
A2 Switchboard Susan 3:53
A3 Feeling Fine 3:20
A4 This Kind Of Love Affair 2:57
A5  Lost In Your Eyes 4:25

B1 It's Too Late 3:28
B2 No Dancing 2:51
B3 Coming From The Heart 3:44
B4 Don't Hang On 2:28
B5 Love's Gonna Be Strong 2:58

"Coming From The Heart" is the Dylan song referred to but which is the MK song?

I seem to recall that we saw The Searchers with the Notting Hillbillies at the charity show in Sheffiled but my memory may be playing tricks on me.

Mrs twm says that The Searchers did support the NHBs at Sheffield. Could there have been a previous link between MK and The Searchers?
